It explores trends in urban and resort market dynamics, examines factors that have driven the international luxury market to its strongest point since the global financial crisis, and details what $5 million buys in sought-after markets around the world. In this paper, 10 top luxury property markets—Côte d’Azur, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Paris, San Francisco, Sydney, and Toronto—were selected and compared using the residential data supplied by Christie’s International Real Estate Affiliates in each market. Laughlin arrived in Santa Fe from Texas on horseback in the 1880s and served as Territorial Supreme Court judge in the early 1900s. His grandson, third-generation Santa Fean Laughlin Barker, founded Barker Realty more than 30 years ago. The City Different was still a small town then and the company was one of its few real estate brokerages. Laughlin’s reputation and friendships created many loyal clients. Laughlin’s son David is President and Qualifying Broker of Barker Realty. David joined his father in the business in 1978. Along with his wife, Lisa, the two have carried forward the family tradition and have moved the company into an exciting new era, while still nurturing the relationships that have been the company’s bedrock. David has worked extensively in all areas of real estate brokerage, from higher-end residential sales to commercial sales, leasing and management. His style is hands-on and highly personal. He is a past President of the Santa Fe Association of Realtors, was 1990’s Realtor of the Year, and has been a long-standing member of the ProStandards Committee. He was also a past board member of the Santa Fe Economic Development, appointed by the mayor to chair the new Santa Fe Convention Center Task Force, and has been pivotal participant in the renewal of the historic rail yard. Stephanie Duran Stephanie Duran has been successfully selling and buying real estate in Santa Fe for the last eight years and has become one of the highest producers in the city. She is driven and passionate about real estate and the care and service that she gives her clients. Stephanie began her very interesting life in the government suburbs of Washington, D.C. As a young girl, she found her strength in art and discipline, training for years as a competitive figure skater and eventually getting a BA in theatre from Indiana University and becoming a world-touring musical theatre actress.
