Layout Techniques: Rule of Thirds
Rule of Thirds Aligning a subject with these points creates more tension, energy and interest in the composition than simply centering the subject.
“Theres a lot to said about grids. Some people ignore them, and others worship them. I don’t think either is totally right. I believe it’s somewhere in between.” -Chris Do
Founder of The Futur.
Layout Trends: Heavy Margins
When used right, margins create focus and reduces noise. Margins create initial priority on the layout.
Margins use negative space to create focus. Negative space should be be used to create focus on the user’s publication/story.
Creating a responsive experience.
“Any given Web Design will look different on a variety of devices. Instead of attempting to re-create the same visual appearance for all users. Designers must specify pages in terms that enable browsers to optimise the display for each individual user’s circumstances.” -Jakob Nielsen
Former VP of research at Apple Computer
Co-founder of the Nielsen Norman Group
