Sport Science talk with Dr Keay

We were fortunate enough to have to have NHEHS alumna Dr Nicky Keay, an endocrinologist, come give a talk to Year 7-13 students about optimising health and performance in female athletes

45 students attended the talk, and found out about the three key areas (sleep, nutrition and menstrual cycle) that female athletes should be focusing on, in order to achieve optimal performance and recovery

There was no rest for some of our team though as Zara, Zoe, Rosie, Nicola, Amelia, Jaspreet and Evie all went straight into playing for the U18 team in their competition! Unfortunately, Ellie Ritchie broke her toe just before the start of the U18 championship, so had to go to hospital instead of playing Our U18 team finished sixth in a very tight competition, but were delighted to have made National Finals again We will miss the inspirational leadership of the Year 13's at the pool, although we have a very bright future ahead!
