Holiday Fun
The holiday season is a magical time in Reading and Berks County. Stunning light displays at Koziar’s Christmas Village and Gring’s Mill will enchant everyone in your group. Our Main Streets bustle with seasonal celebrations like the Reading Holiday Parade, West Reading’s Holiday Glow, and Boyertown’s Chillin’ on Main. Meet the Belsnickel at Christmas on the Farm and get a taste of our Christmas traditions at Reading Liederkranz’s Christkindlemarkt. Take a Santa train ride, a wonderful way to spend time with loved ones. Before heading home, shop for keepsake ornaments at Murdough’s Christmas Barn or unique items from GoggleWorks Handcrafted Holiday Market.
If the spring weather has you itching to get outside, make Pennsylvania’s Americana Region your destination. Hike, bike, fish, kayak, and picnic in local parks and rec areas. Or try a railbike excursion at Colebrookdale Railroad. Schedule a seasonally-themed train ride and attend local events like West Reading’s French Fry Fest, Muhlenberg’s Spring Fest, and the ever-popular World War II Weekend. One of the best parts of spring in Berks County is opening night at FirstEnergy Stadium and the return of Fightin’ Phillies baseball, a sure sign that summer is just around the corner.

Berks County summers revolve around festivals, concerts, and beat-the-heat activities. When temperatures rise, Blue Marsh Lake offers a cool reprieve from the heat with swimming, boating, and paddle boarding fun. Curious about our PA Dutch culture? Attend the Kutztown Folk Festival, an annual celebration of the unique customs, traditions, and folklife of the PA Dutch. Some of our favorite festivals, RiverFest, Reading Pride Celebration, and the always delicious Taste of Hamburg-er Festival, provide a great way to spend the season’s final days.

Reading Liederkranz’s annual Oktoberfest brings Germany to Berks County with authentic foods, drinks, and entertainment. Leaf peepers love the fantastic views of changing foliage from the lookouts of Hawk Mountain, and kids can’t resist spooky lantern tours of Crystal Cave or the corn mazes of Mast Farm. The arts also shine with GoggleWorks’ Pumpkin Palooza, Reading Film Fest, and IX Art Show Imagine This.
Winter Fun
Suffering from cabin fever? A quick trip to Reading and Berks County will cure your malaise. For outdoor fun, bundle up the kids and ski, snowboard, and snow tube down the slopes at Bear Creek Mountain Resort.
