NHPBS Connections - June 2022

CONNECTIONS

Opening the door to Studio A, I flick on the lights, and out of the darkness, I see the beginnings of something new. It all started last fall when Binnie Media generously donated their million-dollar production set to New Hampshire PBS, inspiring us to think of new ways to serve our Granite State community. The power of this considerable gift from Binnie Media will create a new platform for NHPBS to host, create and share new local programs. It has taken a dedicated team of five to measure, dismantle, move, troubleshoot, reconnect and finally rebuild this incredible set that displays an unlimited combination of graphics and colored backgrounds on 27 television monitors. The power of the small but mighty team that took on this behemoth task has breathed new life into our studio. We plan to debut our new set by LIVE streaming the NH Gives broadcast on June 7th and 8th. We hope you’ll tune in. NH Gives is an important fundraising effort for over 500 nonprofits throughout the state to raise critical funds for their organizations. We’re proud and humbled to be the broadcast hub for all participating New Hampshire nonprofits and to offer our new state-of-the-art studio for these 24 hours of giving.

JUN 2022 VOL. 10 NO. 6

that will bring you to the coast of Maine, over to the Emerald Isle and back to an ecological gem in the heart of Manchester. THE STATE WE’RE IN remote crew is lining up expert guests to have critical conversations on issues that impact New Hampshire residents. And the GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE team is looking forward to putting our new set into action with 16 high school teams vying to be the GSC champion. The power of you and your donation is what makes our work possible and allows us to continue. Planning, asking questions and taking the pulse of the needs of our neighbors – it’s all part of what we do to offer you trusted, engaging and educational programming. Your support now is the fuel that will make an impact and keep our production team building on new ways to serve the Granite State. An anonymous donor has generously committed $100,000 in matching funds to help us close the books on our fiscal year. That means any additional gift you give before June 30th will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $100,000. The power of one individual can turn $100,000 in individual gifts from donors like you into $200,000 to support our mission. If you haven’t done so yet, please consider making a matching gift right now at nhpbs.org/match.

Last year, the power of 14,342 people like you raised over $3.8 million for 584 New Hampshire nonprofits during NH Gives.

You have the power to make an incredible difference. Help us access the POWER OF YOU $100,000 matching funds.

Beyond NH Gives, NH author Rebecca Rule and our production team are discovering new stories from Nottingham for another installment in the OUR HOMETOWN series. Willem Lange and the WINDOWS TO THE WILD crew are mapping out ten new stories

Thank you for all you do to sustain your New Hampshire PBS station. Peter A. Frid President & CEO
