“Katama” is a residential area in the town of Edgartown, MA, on the south shore of the island of Martha’s Vineyard. It's bordered on the west by Edgartown Great Pond, on the east by Katama Bay & on the south by the Atlantic Ocean. The word “Katama” comes from a Wampanoag word meaning “crabfishing place.”

Woods Hole is a salty, sea village that brings the Nobelist and the local fisherman together in harmony. It was first used as a fishing grounds by the Wampanoag people Woods Hole became a center of the booming whale trade. At the industry's peak, nine whaling ships were docked at the Bar Neck wharf.
