BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN
BIOLOGY A Powerful Educational Experience The students in Niagara University’s biology program experience personal guidance from faculty, and have the opportunity to conduct research alongside faculty in biomedical, environmental and biotechnical sciences. In addition to classroom and lab experience, students also gain working experience through internships and volunteer opportunities in health, environmental and biotechnology related settings. The goals of the biology program are to provide preprofessional education and training for students of health sciences, grant access to high quality, laboratory-rich learning environments, and provide an integrated and contemporary knowledge of biology to prepare students for graduate degrees and careers in research and industry.
A Cutting-Edge Curriculum The biology curriculum strongly emphasizes hands-on learning, and incorporates lecture and laboratory formats into all levels of the program. Freshman and sophomores gain foundational knowledge and skills from courses in general biology, anatomy and physiology, ecology, and microbiology. As students advance, they will have access to upperlevel courses including pathophysiology, bioanalytical techniques, and comparative physiology. Students may elect to add minors in public health, environmental studies, environmental science, or natural sciences.

MENTORSHIP
QUALITY
Biology majors can intern in medical, biotechnical and environmental positions, gain experience at local hospitals, work with faculty on independent research projects, or study field ecology at study sites in the U.S. and the Caribbean.
Niagara faculty and distinguished alumni, through their considerable experience, assist biology students in their preparation for medical, dental, graduate, and other professional schooling.
Studies are focused in the B. Thomas Golisano Center for Integrated Sciences, a state-of-the-art, integrated science facility. The 50,000-squarefoot center houses 18 laboratories, and dedicated areas for teaching, tissue culture, microscopy, microarray analysis, and more.
