EDUCATION
BUSINESS
The teacher education program is unique in what it is able to offer Canadian students. The four-year bachelor’s degree offers Primary/ Junior, and Intermediate/Senior streams with a wide array of specialization areas. Upon completion of the program and NY State Certification, Canadian students will then have eligibility to gain certification with the Ontario College of Teachers. Students will also have the opportunity of doing their student-teaching placements in Ontario with their local school boards.
Niagara University’s prestigious Holzschuh College of Business Administration prepares students to become future business professionals that lead with integrity and live exemplary lives. The college blends a flexible curriculum with developmental opportunities like a robust 1:1 mentorship program, two designated centers for global citizenry and student engagement, study abroad trips, and more. Niagara’s environment and culture creates a direct path for graduates to launch their career while competing regionally and nationally for the best jobs in their field. Accredited by the AACSB, the college offers degrees in accounting, economics, finance, management, human resources, international business, supply chain and logistics, marketing, and more.
PRE-PROFESSIONAL TRACKS Students seeking a career as a health professional have the option to specialize in pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, pre-veterinary, pre-optometry and pre-pharmacy. These program tracks offer an excellent advisement opportunity with real professionals coupled with their four-year degree often majoring in biology, chemistry, or biochemistry. The advisement program helps students navigate their pursuit of the top medical graduate programs in the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, pre-law is an option for students looking to pursue a top law school upon graduation from their four-year degree, where students may choose any major of their liking.
NURSING Our nurses never lose sight of the patient, giving them a heightened sense of purpose and a commitment to the community. Nursing is direct entry and Canadian graduates will be eligible for licensure in the U.S. as well as Canada.
HOSPITALITY, SPORT, AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT Located near one of the world’s major tourism and hospitality centers, the College of Hospitality, Sport, and Tourism Management teaches students how to excel in a lucrative and fast-moving trillion-dollar economy by learning how to deliver service, excellence, and memorable experiences. BORDER INFORMATION International students entering the U.S. for the purpose of study must enter in F1 student visa status. They must have a passport, an F1 student visa from a U.S. Embassy/Consulate and a Certificate of Eligibility/I-20 issued by their school for their program of study. However, Canadian citizens do not need to go to a U.S. Embassy/Consulate for a visa, but will present their passport and I-20 at the border for admission to the U.S. in F1 status. Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada who are in F1 status and commute from Canada may pursue their program of study on a part-time basis (if program permits).
Applying for a NEXUS Card is recommended as it has assisted our many Canadian students to cross the border quickly and easily as they commute from their homes daily. From on-campus employment to curricular internships, eligible international students may apply for certain work benefits in the U.S. in conjunction with their F1 status. Eligible students may also apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT), which allows students to gain valuable work experience in the U.S. in their field of study for up to 12 months, typically after the completion of their program. See www.niagara.edu/I-20 for the I-20 application and additional information and resources.
