Question 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
How do all three products link? Questionnaire As a team we spent a lot of time creating our digipak and poster as I know how important they are in relation to the main product. To see just how important the digipak and poster are I created a small survey that I sent around my class one of the questions read ‘do you feel that it is necessary to have a poster to advertise the album?’ and the feedback strongly agreed that is was important as 10/10 voted yes. Another question read ‘do you think it is important that all three products link?’ and again the feedback strongly agreed that they do as 8/10 voted yes. After doing my research and after my feedback results, I knew that it was important to have have both ancillary products and for that the music video, the digipak and the poster need to link .
The main image To ensure that all three products linked the whole team thought that it was a good idea to use the first shot from our music video as the front cover of the digipak and the main image on the poster as this will create continuity between our products. I especially thought it would work perfectly as an album cover as well as a poster because not only does it reflect our film but it reflects the indie rock genre. Also because the image is of the back of Matts head it creates intrigue towards the audience as to who it is and what is he doing there, making them want to go and watch the video.
I know that the indie rock genre use mainly blues, greys and blacks within the products which is what we tried to do within ours, by filming at dusk on a cold wintery day . This meant we did not have to edit it too much creating a realistic look which is another convention of the genre.
We took a range of new photos for our digipak but I wanted these to consist of the same cold blue colour otherwise the images wouldn't’t really flow well together but to do this we had to edit them on Photoshop using the colour match tool there not exactly the same colour but they are similar which keeps a constant theme throughout the digipak and with the poster.

To ensure continuity, we kept the font the same between the poster and the digipak. The language is kept simple and snappy in our products.
Throughout the whole process I have communicated with my group and have helped with the design and layout of both products. Especially near the start when making our digipak as we was all contemplating on what the other images were going to be. We have listened to one another's ideas and have placed them all into our products which is why they are successful and unique.
