I graduated cum laude in July 2017 after 5 years of studying Architecture in Ferrara and Istanbul. In my master thesis in architectural design I worked on the theme of the reuse of an historical abandoned industrial area in the italian Dolomites as infrastructural point of reference for the different touristic flows. In my academic years, and during competitions and office job, I worked on several and very different projects, trying to learn something new from each exerience. My design attitude always comes from a deep analysis of the context, I like to build connections also through fields which are not directly related to Architecture: I think the not-immediate association of meanings can create more interesting projects.

MOUNTAIN IN TRANSITION YEAR: 2017 LOCATION: Belluno, Italy TYPOLOGY: Master thesis project

The Castellavazzo cement plant is an historical productive site abandoned for more than fifty years in the Venetian mountain region, not far from the most popular touristic sites. Located along the main road, the production site and the valley it belongs to, rich in other examples of industrial archeologies, represent now just a passing point. The thesis project aims to highlight the points of interest of the valley through a system of touristic paths allowing to have different perceptions of the landscape. In this context, the production area becomes the nodal point where the new tourist reception service functions for the whole territory can find a place. The program is thought to ensure a diversified offer able to support the tourist activity all the year long with spaces for cultural and museal activities and sport and leisure facilities.

THE TIME OF PROGRESS YEAR: 2014 LOCATION: Ferrara, Italy TYPOLOGY: Scholastic project PRIZES: Changing city exhibition selected project

The industrial complex of the Eridania company is a large productive area between the centre of the city and the suburbs, which is completely abandoned today. The urban sprawl threaten the area, and a project of urban regeneration is necessary to save it. The proposal starts with the target of developping the area to save the memories and the suggestions of the site. To do it, a plan to be realized through several time steps is thought, becouse a so big change cannot be actuated immediatelly. The regeneration starts protecting the existing buildings and revitalizing the area introducing accomodations, services and spaces for students. This category, in fact, seems to be the most suitable to colonize the site and to start the renovation process. Subsequently, new functions related to the present and new categories of people are introduced in a chain process which will be lead to the extreme, until an utopic future we can just imagine.

TRANSCULTURES YEAR: 2015 LOCATION: Istanbul, Turkey TYPOLOGY: Scholastic project PUBLICATIONS: Publication in progress

The island of Buyukada, unexpected natural reserve close to the 14 millions people metropolis of Istanbul, is charachterized by an only-way economy based on tourism; this involves that also the common life activities have to face the problem of seasonality. Before tourism, other activities made the island self-sufficient and created occasion for aggregation: the artistic production, set in the houses of the artists living n the island, and the agricoltural production, intended also as an occasion of social meeting. The intent of the project is to restore these two historical activities, to create an alternative able to renforce the social life not only of the community in Buyukada, but in all the Arcypelago. The idea is to create a centre, a point of reference able to support the restarting of these activities. Here products, ideas, thoughts and knowledge will be shared and this will be the place of the transposition, as art and agricolture, two elements belonging to different fields and so different will be presented together. 31

HOUSE IN VIA COPERTA YEAR: 2015 LOCATION: Ferrara, Italy TYPOLOGY: Private commission

The project starts from the request of the owner to transform his historical residence in the centre of Ferara in a contemporary villa composed of two independent apartments for him and his parents. The proposal mixes old and new to create a very elegant and balanced combination: the older part of the complex hosts the living areas while an all-new block containing the services and the bedroom of the bigger apartment is introduced. The new part is completely hidden from outside (this solution is also due to the historical constraints), as well as the open air garden hosting the swimming pool. The combination of old and new creates an introvert building extremely liveable with great quality spaces.

THE LIGHT HOUSE YEAR: 2014 LOCATION: Verona, Italy TYPOLOGY: Scholastic project

This project is about the adaptation of an existing house to the most recent and performing building technologies. In particular, the perimeter of the old single house is saved, but everything else is modified to obtain the best environmental performances. The external natural factors (sun, wind and ground) are exploited opening large windows on the irradiated elevations and burying the volume. All the masterplan of the area is studied in detail, and great importance is given to the disposition of the internal rooms. Each technological component is studied in detail and its performances are analyzed. It permits also to create particulary suggestive spaces, as in the living room: here, a sun-shade moveable glass lamina structure allows to protect the interior from wintry cold winds, allowing the sunlight to entry. In summer, this solution allowds instead the winds to refresh the room. This project is the bst example of how performing technological solution can follow the most poetic architectural solutions.

RESTORATION PROJECT FOR PALAZZO TASSONI YEAR: 2015 LOCATION: Ferrara, Italy TYPOLOGY: Scholastic project

Palazzo Tassoni is an historical noble palace in the centre of Ferrara, dating back to the 14th century. The complex it belongs to was partially restorated in the lasts years and now it hosts the Architecture and Design department of the University of Ferrara. Despite this, a large part of it is still abandoned and in precarious conditions. The restoration project aims to link this part to the renovated one: a project of the whole introduces new functions related to the didactive activities, and the building and its problems are deeply analyzed to define the most coherent intervention from the different points of view.

THE HOUSE OF MEMORY YEAR: 2013 LOCATION: Trento, Italy TYPOLOGY: Scholastic project PRIZES: XI premio di Architettura: costruire con i sistemi in legno- special mention PUBLICATIONS: THE PLAN website, material design website The main themes of this project are the relationship with the past, present as a physical element, and the use of the last wooden technologies. The ruin is interpreted not as an handicap, but as the memory of the place, a fragment that reminds to a specific way of making architecture, developped in the centuries to face specific natural conditions. The architectural design follows the Alpine archetype, and wood is used above the stonewall of the ruin. But new wooden technologies allow to move the building also in the horizontal direction. Large windows are positioned on the south elevation, to take the best advantage of the solar radiation. Here, the principal spaces are located, creating a strong relationship with the surrounding nature. The external wooden platform allows to continue the internal floor outwards. To protect the building, natural insulating technologies are used, as wood fiber and flax fiber.

GO BIG YEAR: 2013 LOCATION: Lecce, Italy TYPOLOGY: Ideas competition PRIZES: finalist project

The Taranta Festival is an annual event that gathers thousands of people. It has a very old tradition and the main element is the dance, but also music and theatre. The goal of the competition is to create a space suitable to accomodate the visitors during the days of the event, but which can also be used during all the rest of the year, with halls and laboratories for the different activities related to the festival and to the local culture. The idea is that of creating an utopic building, an icon, a landmark, which can give an identity to all the surrounding anonymous space. The form is dictated by the historical memory: the spyder web ( a tarantula is the protagonist of the legendary born of the Taranta tradition) is remembered by the same structure, and the volumes of the laboratories and the platforms for the spectators seem cocoons caught in the web. The different rooms can be reached through paths which also work as exhibition spaces.
