IOC ACTIVITIES IOC PRESIDENT This week in Vidy, IOC President Jacques Rogge has met: -

IOC Executive Board member Craig Reedie; Grand Témoin de la Francophonie for the Olympic Games in London, Michaëlle Jean; a delegation from the Spanish NOC, comprising Spanish NOC President Alejandro Blanco, Secretary General Victor Sánchez, and First VicePresident Theresa Zabell; a delegation from the NOC of Kazakhstan, including its President, Temirkhan Dosmukhambetov, and Secretary General, Timur Dossymbetov; the new President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), Claude Louis Gallien; the President of SportAccord, Hein Verbruggen, accompanied by the new SportAccord Director, Vincent Gaillard.

This weekend, President Rogge is flying to th Colorado Springs (USA) to take part in the 5 Athletes’ Forum, organised by the IOC Athletes’ Commission, whose Chairman is Frank Fredericks.

MISCELLANEOUS Last week, worldwide TOP partner Coca-Cola unveiled its “Move to the Beat” campaign for the Games in London in 2012. The Coca-Cola Company is working alongside GRAMMY award-winning producer Mark Ronson and chart-topping vocalist Katy B to fuse the sounds of Olympic sports with the beat of London music. Five young Olympic hopefuls will act as ambassadors for the Move to the Beat campaign. More info on www.olympic.org

INTERNATIONAL SPORTS FEDERATIONS SUMMER IFS The International Fencing Federation (FIE) has informed us that, during its meeting in Lausanne on 23 September, the FIE Executive Board took several decisions, including an initiative that will support and retain female fencing referees and provide them with the tools to excel and advance. The first refereeing course aimed specifically at women is planned to be held in November 2011 in Athens, Greece. The FIE has also informed us that its World Championships, which will be held from 8 to 16 October 2011 in Catania (Italy), will bring together 937 fencers from 113 countries.
