If the generations before ours used to say “You are what you eat”, we now know enough to change it into “You are what you use.” There is an abundance of scientific evidence that shows how the products we are using on the skin penetrate into our bloodstream, affecting our overall well-being. With that in mind, our very own Clean Beauty concept is primarily defined by the ingredients you won’t find in the products with a CLEAN icon: BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole), BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene), chemical sunscreens, EDTA, ethanolamines, ethoxylated ingredients (Ceteareth-20, emulsifying wax, PEGS, polysorbate-20, polysorbate-40, steareth-20, sulfates), formaldehyde, methylchloroisot-
hiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone, methylcellulose or 2-methoxyethanol, nitro- and polycyclic musk, parabens, petrolatum and paraffin, phthalates, resorcinol, silicones, animal by-products, toluene, triclosan and triclocarban. While we don’t believe that clean products are the answer to every skin issue (Different bodies need different things, friends!), we still believe in providing the best guidelines for those among you who wish to avoid products that might disagree with your largest organ (that is: skin). Where does your love for beauty come from? After arriving in Paris in 1963, I was creating the looks on the models – it wasn’t just makeup, it was the look; it was the hairstyle, the clothes. I was hired by Dior in 1967 to create his first makeup line and it was around then that Diana Vreeland called me a visionary, which was connected to my use of color and through it, the freedom of the era.
