GREAT FOR LEARNING
Letters & Numbers!
Notes to Teachers and Parents. Thank you, for making the choice to use Charran’s ‘Handwriting Practice’ Series to teach handwriting to your students. This series provides a researched-based model of instruction that uses some new strategies that are in harmony with the natural rhythm of a child’s informal early learning. It is also designed to develop future handwriting legibility, speed and accuracy, all useful possessions for future academic and personal success. All the ‘Handwriting’ activities in this Book 1 are aimed at developing the muscles of the fingers, hands, wrists, arms and shoulders in preparation for formal handwriting and should be integrated into all the daily activities of the pre-schooler e.g. Drawing, Colouring, Recognising and Understanding signs e.g. ENTER EXIT, STOP, WALK, CAUTION etc. The Charrans’ ‘Handwriting Practice’ Series is presented landscape style like drawing books and only crayons and / or 2inch bits of coloured chalk should be used to complete the “writing” exercises.
Before we begin 1. Exercises of the thumb, fingers, wrists, and shoulders. DIAGRAM 2. Position the body- Both feet well anchored on the floor while the body is slightly bent over the table. DIAGRAM 3. Position the book-Bottom left of right corner pointing to the center of the chest. DIAGRAM 4. Pick the writing tool (crayon or chalk)
™ Squill Hi! I am Squill, the purple Squid. I am the mascot of the Bests’ ‘Handwriting Practice Series’. I am able to write with any of my eight tentacles using any of my eight different writing tools (pen, pencil, chalk, crayon, marker, brush, fountain pen or quill). I hope you will enjoy all the activities in your book.
