NICHOLAS SWEDBERG WEIGHTLESS SHADOWS
WEIGHTLESS SHADOWS
I am a young designer and aspiring architect. I graduated in May, 2015, with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. My architectural interests currently center around four nodes: Light, Nature, History, and the Act of Making. Weightless Shadows is a collection of some of my design works, as well as some photography. This book represents an exercise in examining my own work in order to help better identify personal design patterns, as well as a continuing effort to categorize my projects. This booklet deals with the four aforementioned interests in my work. For the presentation of each project, I have limited myself to a maximum of two images. The intent is that these images capture the architectural ideas inherent in the work in the fewest possible moves. To date, I have produced an undergraduate portfolio, as well as my undergraduate thesis documentation. Some of the projects that appear in those works appear here as well, though those older books contain greater detail on the projects in question. Weightless Shadows does, however, contain some new designs in addition to my older works. Nicholas C. Swedberg August 8, 2015
