Honor a special someone
There are many ways to make your gift to the nicholsfuture.org Capital Campaign. General support is welcome, however, you may wish to designate your donation to honor a special faculty member or friend who has had a positive impact on your life or the life of your child. Consider these possibilities: Albert R. Sutter One of the most respected Nichols faculty members in our history was Albert R. Sutter, who died in 2009. As a foreign language teacher, mentor and friend, “El Supremo” is remembered and revered by generations of Nichols students. The Sutter Chair recognizes a member of the current faculty who exemplifies his excellence in teaching and strong personal values. George B. Truscott ’55 One of the two new athletic fields has been named in memory of George B. Truscott ‘55, beloved Nichols faculty member and coach who died in 2008. Few of us will ever forget the sight of George and one of his loyal Golden Retrievers out on the playing field where he loved to be. The lead gift was made by his son, Ted Truscott ’79, and also honors Ted’s classmate and friend, Bob Strauss ’79. G. Frederick Zeller, Jr. ’47 Fritz Zeller, who died in 2009, will be remembered by over four decades of Nichols students as perhaps the ultimate role model. As an administrator, teacher and coach, Fritz stressed character and sportsmanship above all else. To honor his memory, the Zeller Fund for Ethics and Character has been established. This initiative will include a scholarship, an enriched advisory program, new curricular initiatives, an Ethics and Leadership Student Orientation and enhanced faculty and staff training.

Grace McKendry Grace McKendry taught art at Nottingham Academy and Nichols for 25 years. She introduced visual arts to countless students and was truly a leader in the growth of the arts at Nichols. Many alumni were inspired by her creativity, enthusiasm, style and flair. To honor her memory, an endowed scholarship fund has been established through this campaign. Need-based scholarships are awarded to students who show talent in the visual arts. You can designate your campaign gift to be added to the Grace McKendry Memorial Scholarship Fund to help provide opportunities for future artists. Richard C. Bryan Few individuals have had an impact on Nichols as impressive as that of Rick Bryan. His legacy will include the opening of the Flickinger Performing Arts Center, the relocation of the Middle School to the Amherst campus, the integration of technology into the Nichols curriculum and all the benefits of this campaign. To recognize his leadership and commitment to the environment, the green roof of the new Math and Science Building has been named in his honor. Honor a Faculty Member or Friend Perhaps you have a personal choice of a faculty or staff member who made a lasting and important impression on your life. Or, there may be a special classmate or friend whose loyalty and friendship influenced your years at Nichols. Make a gift to honor someone of your choosing.
