A June 3 fire damaged the fire hall in Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation.

Firefighters in Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation had to use their skills on their own fire hall when it started burning June 3. Nelson House RCMP officers on patrol saw smoke coming from the direction of the fire hall around 5:30 p.m. last Thursday and responded to find the building engulfed in flames and firefighters on scene extinguishing the fire. No one was injured in the blaze, which does not appear to be suspicious, but is being investigated by police and the Office of the Fire Commissioner.
