2023 10th Annual Anderson Bred Heifer Sale Welcome to the 10th Annual Anderson Bred Heifer Sale. With pleasure, Poplar Grove Veterinary Services has been involved in preparing this wonderful selection of bred heifers for the 2023 sale. The Anderson bred heifer program employs veterinary recommended gold standard preventative medicine to prepare the heifers for health, longevity and reproductive success. The heifers are screened and scrutinized over several examinations and strict selection criteria are adhered to. No expense is spared when it comes to setting these heifers up for successful growth and reproduction, maximum health, workability and durability with your cow herd in mind. Building cow herds is the goal and is taken seriously at every step. The attention to detail, dedication and hardwork that Scott and his crew put into the selection process is evident when you see these heifers in herds years later as valuable cows. On behalf of Bullseye Feeds, it is a pleasure to be working with the great people at the Anderson Bred Heifer operation. The program continues to be a leader in the industry when developing and selling commercial bred heifers. Scott and his crew have one of the most reputable bred heifer sales in central Alberta and provide the industry with quality heifers every year! The heifers selected for the sale have been on a full mineral program since selected as heifer calves. The heifers are backgrounded and developed on a growing ration where a chelated, macro premix is force fed to ensure proper micro minerals, and vitamins are consumed. Force feeding the premix daily ensures that every heifer is receiving the macro premix. The heifers then graze throughout the summer where they are provided with a high-quality pasture macro premix to ensure they continue to receive vitamin and minerals. Having the heifers on a year-round mineral program enhances the overall immunity and compliments the heifer’s overall growth and performance. The nutrition and development of the heifers along with the entire cow herd is continually being monitored to meet environmental and season conditions to compliment the animal’s overall health. Anderson Vaccine Schedule All heifers at palpation in the spring were given Express 5 c/w Somugen and 8 way. This Fall the heifers were boosted with Express 5 c/w Somnugen and 8 way as well as given their first shot of scour boss 9 and Bimectin pour on. The January calving heifers were given their Scourboss 9 Booster just prior to Sale Day.
