INSURANCE

It is will great anticipation and excitement that I take this opportunity to welcome you to the first annual DanG & Friends Bull Sale. This event has been many years in the making with generations of genetic selection taking place to come to the point where we feel very comfortable offering this bulk of bull power to the general public.
The purebred cattle business isn’t always insanely profitable but, surrounded by a great group of fellow Charolais breeders it sure can be fun! We have welcomed some of the most respected breeders in the area to join forces with us for this inaugural event: Partridge Hollow Charolais (Barry Baldwin & Family), Bogart Cattle Company (Eric Doran & Family), Amabec Charolais (Ivan Hutchinson) and Terry Creek Charolais (Todd Aird & Family). Each one of these breeders has a bit of a different genetic twist to their program; Todd focuses on EPD excellence, Eric and Ivan enjoy competing for banners on a local and national level in the show ring. This group is ultimately a great fit to offer bulls that will work for each and every buyers preference.
Cow families are a big deal around here at DanG, the bulls in this sale are backed by some of the breeds best and most prolific cow families. Some of these cow families are Miss Prairie Cove 314A, Miss Prairie Cove 630D, Miss Prairie Cove 504C and Miss Prairie Cove 309A. This is just the tip of the iceberg, take a look through the genetic excellence of this group of bulls, you will be impressed.
All of these bulls have been raised since the fall of 2022 at DanG Charolais. They have been grown on a high forage, high fibre ShurGain pellet to ensure lean growth. Rest assured that these bulls have not been overfed and will go ahead to work effectively for their new owners. If for some reason a bull purchased out of this sale does not go on to be a successful breeder, please reach out to the seller of the bull, any of us will do our very best to make sure your cows get bred and you remain a satisfied customer.
We think a lot of these bulls, they are the fruit of our breeding for many years, we want to see these bulls be successful for their new owners. Some of the ways to ensure your bull is a long-lasting investment is to make sure that he is not over worked in his first year breeding and he has the opportunity for rest and body condition regeneration following a busy breeding season. Remember, after a bull reaches 12 months of age until 24 months of age, he should not be breeding any more cows than the number of months he is old. Therefore, a 16 month old bull should not breed more than 16 cows. Don’t be afraid to invest in some grain to make sure your bull is ready for his second breeding season!
Realizing that most of our buyers do not require a bull until late spring/early summer, we have decided to offer to keep any bull purchased through the sale until the May long weekend at DanG Charolais. This will be offered FREE OF CHARGE! We value the convenience of our customers and hope this option is helpful to our buyers. If a bull is to remain at DanG Charolais for any length of time, the bull must be insured. On or before May long weekend, any of the consignors will be happy to assist as best we can in delivering your new bull.
In conclusion, we hope that the inaugural DanG & Friends Charolais Bull Sale can offer some unique genetic opportunities for our buyers and that we can foster great relationships moving forward. Please join us following the sale for typical DanG hospitality and a complimentary dinner. On behalf of all the consignors, Tami and the rest of my family - we welcome you to our first bull sale!
DekeyserThe lead off bull for this inaugural bull sale is very much the kind of animal that we strive to produce. A sound structure, lots of performance, good bone dimension and excellent temperament. Rollo was shown at the Royal and was a competitor in the Players Club. His dam is a large framed French cow that has good feet and legs. The only Trust sired bull in the sale, Trust stamps his calves with a great hair coat and extra muscle and dimension. Look forward to more Trust offspring in the 2023 sale! For now, look closely at this sire!
An extra age bull here with a lot of look coupled with growth. He’s built big, if you want to add some frame look here! His sire Fireball, has been an excellent herdsire here. No matter female or male, he makes them very useful. He goes back to the great 314A
An excellent set of EPDs on this lad. He is calving ease and maternal quality heavy with lots of performance to back him as well. A twist to the pedigree he goes back to the Travel Agent bull which isn’t readily available genetics. His dam has become a cornerstone cow in the herd here at DanG. Sired by Fireball, you can’t go wrong with that!
A very attractive, powerful sire prospect here! If you are looking for the whole package kind of bull that could go into a purebred herd or a commercial cow herd and make some genetic progress, this fella should do that! Sired by the White Bear bull that has made so many good ones over the past couple years. His dam is a Turton daughter who has left many successful offspring behind. That Turton female has produced two high sellers from our Platinum Picks Female Sale. This bull is super quiet, easy to work around and is halter broken as he was shown as a calf.
This young fella travelled some miles last summer gathering banners across the province at many shows. He was the 2022 CCYA National Junior Show Champion Bull, many time Grand Champion and Supreme Champion at local shows. He even went on to the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto to be a Player’s Club entry. He stood fourth in a very competetive heat of bull calves in the 2022 RAWF National Charolais Show. They don’t make them any quieter, they don’t make them any longer and deeper. This boy has it all together! On top of that, he is sired by the ever popular and ultra good looking White Bear bull. His dam is a tidy uddered female that we have flushed and remains a very large part of the Bogart program. Take this opportunity to add a high quality show bull to your bull battery.
If you are in the market for a big time herdsire with some stretch, here is the bull! This bull was shown all summer long by Morgan Broomfield. He was successful in his competition and made the trek all the way to the RAWF in Toronto. A very quiet bull with tons of bone dimension and length. Big time growth, easy keeping and long sided. The pedigree on this lad goes back to none other than the popular Resource bull on the sires side. On the dams side, he goes back to one of the original cows that started the Amabec success; Bellhaven Sugarloaf. This is a no miss cow family, coupled with the performance of Resource - a true herdsire here!
The second high quality consignment from Terry Creek. Todd and his family know how to make good ones in Baltimore. He has spent a great deal of time and money investing in quality genetics focusing on EPD excellence. Knockout’s dam (RKJ 24E) was purchased as a heifer calf from the Hatch Dispersal sale in Manitoba. 24E is one of the top producing females “cutting a coupon every year” in the Terry Creek herd. She also has a daughter currently working at DANG Charolais. Sired by the unique USA influenced genetic package with LT Authority as the sire. Knockout is 100K tested and his heterozygous polled.
Here is an embryo calf that was raised by our good friends, The Bickles! Mark was told that you can’t raise a beef calf on a bottle. Here he is! You don’t need a halter, he will just follow you around. Sired by the Famous bull from the US, outcross genetics to most here in Ontario. The dam is none other than the PCC 309A female that Cays Cattle have done so well with over the past decade.
A big bodied, long sided bull with some stretch. This young sire is destined to make stocker calves that will top the markets. His dam is a female that has been around this place a while and earns her keep every year. His sire is the Instigator bull that we have used for many springs here at DanG. He has left a great influence on our herd.
Lot
Here is a heifer bull! Sired by the PCC Outgoing that was purchased for just that purpose. He was our go to heifer sire for a couple years here. Lots of pedigree in him going back to Outsider. On the
dams side, just a heifer that we raised from a small
An ET calf from PCC 314A and Gerrard Pastor. These Pastor cattle are very productive, with lots of performance and easy doability. The 314A cow may be the most prolific donor to ever walk at PCC. Her impact on the breed is immense, this is your chance to hook
A full brother to Lot 14, an excellent choice for cattlemen that will be raising stocker cattle. They will be easy doing with lots of growth. Daughters from this pedigree are always high in ROI with great production records on these Pastor genetics. Again, off of one of the breeds most prolific donors.
A very high quality bull coming to you from Terry Creek! Klondike’s dam (Venus 675F) was purchased as a high selling heifer calf at the No Borders Sale in 2018.His Grandam (PD 975A) was a high seller at the same No Borders Sale purchased by Saddleridge for their donor program. His Great Grandam (PD 875Y) exudes fertility having 10 calves in 10 straight years – a no miss female that is still producing today. Klondikes pedigree includes industry respected sires such as Pleasant Dawn Chisum 216A, Pleasant Dawn MVP 316Y and Rawes Sir T 123Y. The power is in the blood and the bull speaks for himself as well! Three sisters are back home in the replacement pen and very closely related to the high selling heifers in the Platinum Picks Sale. Klondike is 100K tested and is homo polled (you won’t ever have a horned calf)!
A full brother to Todd’s bull, he is an embryo calf out of that same flush. Lots of performance numbers behind him. Check out the back story on the dams side of the pedigree in Todd’s footnotes. Impressive to say the least. Sired by the Chisum bull that always adds performance and grow.
Different pedigree here from the rest of the group! Sired by the LT Sundance bull that goes back to the ever popular Ledger. Coupled with the 504C donor and Bottoms Up, a nice package is built with some calving ease and lots of performance EPDs. This young sire has alot of potential here! Check out the numbers, check out the bull, you won’t be dissapointed.
The only red one in the offering, if you dont mind some colour - look here! Tons of bone dimension and muscle shape in this lad. Off of a first time heifer here, she did an awesome job raising this calf. He has a big set of nuts on him, tons of hair and without a doubt will make the kind of calves that make the backgrounders very happy.
A son of the great Fireball here, long sided, big haired and wide topped. He is structurally sound at the ground and ready to find some girls! Sticking with the trend of big time quality cow familes, this bull is off of the Aphrodite cow that has been the dam to so many good ones. Maternal siblings are working for Bellhaven Farms(2), Cedar Rock MFG, 8 Way Charolais, McCracken Farming, Brad Denure and a herdsire for Shadou Charolais. With progeny in this many herds you can be sure that this cow family works! Purchase with confidence!
Another Fireball bull here out of Barry’s Ice Princess donor cow. These Fireball bulls are attractive, have lots of growth all put together in a moderate package. He is big hipped and wide based. One of the easier doing bulls in the group. If you are looking to make replacement females that will keep their condition and work for a long time in your herd this bull would be a great choice.
Adjust your sights, a much younger calf here in Karate Chop. He is square bodied, big hipped and has a nice shoulder set. Sired by the Chuckwagon son that has done so many great things up on Hutchy Hill. The daughters are attractive, the bulls are powerful yet still easy calving. This young sire has alot of potential to be a phenomenal herdsire for producing stocker cattle as well as replacement females.
