La Paz / Bolivien 2007 / Nicolas Y Galeazzi Documentation of actions and works for the exhibition project “el quinto passajero� at the Museo Tambo Quirquincho La Paz. A collaboration of 14 Bolivian and 10 European artists, curated by Harm Lux and Valeria Paz.
Calle de la Plata a carpet for encounter and discourse This carpet from Europe is taken as symbol for a Bolivian street in Potosí of the 17th century. Eduardo Galeano, recounts in “The Open Vanes of Latin America” how the Spanish removed each year the cobblestones of the town’s main street for the Fiesta de Corpus Cristi to replace them and cobble it with bars of silver. Brought from Berlin over New York and Miami Beach, the carpet should serve as a street of encounter, where to discus the economical and social relations between Bolivia and Europe, focusing on the cultural effects of the exploitation of Cerro Rico’s silver; this swiss cheese of a mine mountain behind Potosí. A complementing trip to Potosí brought topics on the carpet like “how to export culture”, “is it really useful to connect cultural contexts”, or “our relations to development and time” and were discussed by the artists of the project and audience.
El Oasis del quinto passajero The ďŹ th passanger’s Oasis: Installation with Pajassas. Built collaboratively. Gives an oportunity to hang out if the sound of the city gets too nervous, the sapce in the taxis cap too craped or if you need to live clichees about Bolivia yourself. Carnival in Potosi
Alasita is a market for little things. Its god is a dwarf called Ekeko. He has everything, monney, love, knowledge, big house, but tiny.
The silver mine is still running. In Spain the expression “vale un Potosí”, “it’s the value of a Potosí” is still in use.

Publishing Santo Incommodo Santo Incomodo, the God of The Inconfortable Sitting Positions, was devised and celebrated by Beatrice Fleischlin and Nicolas Y Galeazzi. Two worship-performances, an ad in the tabloid press El Extra, and a pray yer surrounded an altar-installation in the courtyard of the museum.
