CURRENT: Low transparency Traffic Narrow sidewalks

This project was done in Planning Design Studio: Neighborhood District, during the summer semester of my 2nd year at the University of Cincinnati, taught by Shilpa Mehta and Danilo Palazzo. It was a project done in collaboration with 3CDC. The goal of this project was to improve the existing elements of the streetscape of 9th Street based off concerns 3CDC had, as well as stakeholders in the Central Business District of Cincinnati. Some of the main concerns were pedestrian safety, lighting, and stormwater management. I created a plan that would address these issues such as adding pedestrian bump-outs and bioswales.

KINSMAN FARM Cleveland, Ohio Ubuntu Cultivators Urban Sustainable Farm Site Plan April 2019 Current Conditions:

CURRENT CONDITIONS:

Kinsman Farm is located in Cleveland, OH and was established in 2010 to support local urban farmers. The farm had over 12 farming ventures. But in recent years the number of partners has declined. I prepared this site plan for a non-profit organization, Ubuntu Cultivators. My mission was to create an urban sustainable farm to support the Neighborhoods of Kinsman and Central.

CENTER RIDGE RD CORRIDOR STUDY Westlake, Ohio Cuyahoga County Planning Commission Corridor Study Currently Underway

At County Planning, I was a member of the Project Team for the Center Ridge Road Corridor Study. I created these renderings of the existing street using; Sketch Up, Photoshop, and Illustrator. The goal for this Corridor Study was to transform the streetscape to better fit the community. The road is currently four

8

lanes wide and most areas the road has a 60’ right-ofway. Center Ridge Road is a a part of US Route 20 which runs across the Northern United States from Boston, MA to Portland, OR. By looking at traffic studies and AADT data, I discovered that the road was under capacity and eligible for a road diet. This would open up more room for pedestrian amenities and possibly a bike lane.

EXISTING:

I created various street designs that would fit within the right of way. These would be used at community meetings to see what the residents of Westlake would like to see happen to the corridor. I created models using Sketch-Up and then I used Photoshop to render. I then exported them into Illustrator to add the colored overlays and text.

WIDEN EXISTING LANES TO 12’:

ROAD DIET:

ADD BIKE LANES:

ADD A SIDE TRAIL:

TWO-SIDED TRAIL:

WIDEN TO FIVE 12’ LANES:

The road would completely fill the Right of Way and there wouldn’t be room for any pedestrian activities

LINCOLN HEIGHTS Village of Lincoln Heights, Ohio University of Cincinnati Site Planning and Design Studio December 2018 Current Conditions: Lincoln Heights is a village outside Cincinnati, Ohio with a population of 3,334 (2017). The community was the first self-governing African-American community north of the Mason-Dixon line. It was a thriving suburb in the 1920’s. The residents have a deep pride in the community. Lincoln Heights currently is zoned primary residential, which leaves little room for commercial businesses. This has caused the community to lack a economic tax base. This was a group project done in Site Planning and Design Studio, taught by Vikas Mehta. Our vision in our site plan is to create a tax base, start job training programs, promote development of black-owned businesses, and enhance existing features in the village to draw people from outside the village.

SUITABILITY ANALYSIS: Infrastructure

These are layers of Suitability that I ranked represented by the opacity of the colors.

School Proximity

I created this graphic by using Illustrator to change the opacity based on the suitability. Then I used Photoshop to distort the layers to create the layered affect.

Accessibility to Nature Bus Route Proximity

From this analysis we concluded that the site would benefit from; more infrastructure within the site, greater accessibility to nature, and more businesses within the community to create a larger tax base.

Business Proximity Slope Highway Proximity

HOUSING

CONCEPTUAL DIAGRAM:

There will be a variety of housing types.

MAIN STREET

Revitalize abandoned schools GREEN CORRIDOR The green corridor would act as a connector through the site.

“CENTRAL PARK The park would act as an greenspace for the residents living in the adjacent housing.

As a group, we created the site plan in AutoCAD. Then, I exported it into Adobe Illustrator to add details and color. I also created these renderings of specific areas in the site. I used Sketch-Up to do these. The first rendering is of a Mixed-Use building along Main Street. The second rendering on of the triplex apartment buildings that face the neighborhood park. The third image is of a cross section of the Green Corridor which is designed to connect the entire site to the nature park on the west side of the site.

INACTIVE PARKING LOT TO COMMUNITY HUB SITE:

Site:

Plan of Action:

For this project we had to design a site plan for an area in a neighborhood that needed revitalization. When I visited the community, I noticed this shopping center had an excessive amount of parking. I used Sketch-Up to visualize my vision of the area and decided to turn this underutilized parking lot into a large community area for the residents to use and enjoy. I also chose to convert the existing buildings located in the strip mall to mixed-use development, which would include; multi-family units, commercial stores, and offices.

UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI

Cincinnati, Ohio

University of Cincinnati Principles of Planning Design Graphic Communications I December 2017 This assignment was done individually in, Principles of Planning Design Graphic Communication I. I analyzed the greenspaces on the University of Cincinnati’s Campus. I found that the University has many greenspaces. But, I observed that over half of them are under-utilized. These graphics are used to represent my findings on a poster. They were largely done by hand sketching and Adobe Photoshop. Then, I used Adobe InDesign to compile everything on the poster below.

AUTOCAD SAMPLE

Cincinnati, Ohio

Meisner + Associates / Land Vision November 2019

This is an AutoCAD drawing I did while I was interning at Meisner + Associates / Land Vision. It is of the AM Kinney Estate and the two new wings to be added as additions.

16

The wing on the north side of the house is going to be a garage and the wing on the south side of the house is going to be a first-floor master suite.

LANDSCAPE DESIGNS

This project was done while I was interning for Meisner + Associates/Land Vision. I completed this for a client who wanted a visual of a the landscaping

design during the spring and during Photoshop.

This is a cross section that I completed at Meisner + Associates / Land Vision. It is one of four cross sections I did as part of a proposal for a landscaping design of the I-275 and Colerain Avenue inter-

change. I completed this using Sketch-Up and Adobe Photoshop, along with three other cross sections of different areas around the site.

TRAVEL RENDERINGS

Bruges, Belgium August 2020

PROCESS: This rendering was completed during the Summer 2020 Semester as a personal project. They were all done using Adobe Photoshop. The first rendering is of a view of the Bruges, Belgium on top of a building.

18

Amsterdam, Netherlands & Bruges, Belgium August 2020

These renderings were completed by using photos I took while in Europe and recreating them in Photoshop. I chose my favorite images I captured while on the trip. The first rendering (top left) is of the canal in the Old Centre district of Amsterdam. The second rendering (top right) is of a few Gothic-style buildings in Markt Square in Bruges, Belgium. The third rendering (bottom left) is of a street full of row houses in Amsterdam. 19
