dear Mr. inman, Mrs. vanWyke, Mrs. henry A professor once asked what integrity meant to me. I sat there pondering not only what it meant, but also where integrity took place in my life. I was a first-year at the time—passionate about my dreams and curious about where the next four years would take me. After the years passed by, I started to accomplish various life-long goals that had always been at the forefront of my to do list. I was the girl who told everyone, “One day I will work for Seventeen Magazine.” And after a semester abroad studying art in Florence, Italy, I did just that. As I look back now, I realize that I’ve held myself accountable, I’ve stayed honest and fair, and I’ve stayed true to my core values. That is how I define integrity. I’m now a senior at Drake University, studying magazine journalism and graphic design with a concentration in leadership. My time at Drake has exemplified various skills that have built a strong foundation in pursuing my dreams. In both educational and employment settings, I have proven myself to be a dependable, hardworking individual who is always prepared, well-organized, and able to manage multiple tasks. Additionally, I possess excellent management skills, am team-oriented, and am willing to “go the extra mile” as needed. My work ethic has always been diligent and inventive, and my drive to be successful in everything I do has pushed me to design for student-led magazines and intern at publications geared toward inspiring teens and home improvement. I can offer this semester’s capstone all of my abilities to create and design innovative pieces for all aspects of this course. I believe my skills would be best utilized in the art director position or webmaster position. From my experience at Seventeen Magazine, Meredith Corporation, and The Annual, I am able to delegate duties, work closely with staff members, and ensure the brand design reflects the mission and audience at hand. I work to build an energetic and enthusiastic atmosphere in every task assigned to me. Former employees have mentioned my passion for creativity and goal driven skills. I have explored many different academic and work experiences and have been able to adapt, hit deadlines, and coordinate with those around me. I am also interested in the webmaster position. Thank you for taking the time to review my credentials in consideration for the art director position for the spring 2015 capstone. In a large roasting pan combine 1 1/2 cups mixed nuts, cashews or almonds cereal and nuts; set aside. 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 2 In a small saucepan combine brown sugar, corn syrup 1/2 cup light-colored corn syrup and butter. Cook and stir over medium heat until butter 1/2 cup butter is melted and mixture is smooth. Pour over cereal 2 cups chocolate-covered raisins, mixture; stir gently to coat. chocolate-covered peanuts, or 3 Bake for 30 minutes, stirring twice. Remove from oven. semisweet or milk chocolate pieces Spread mixture on a large piece of buttered foil; cool. Break into pieces. Stir in chocolate-covered raisins. Store in an airtight container up to 3 days or freeze up to 1 month. Makes about 15 cups (30 servings)

The Lookout delivers you a source of informational content to inform and communicate up-to-date art scene messages. We are devoted to your wants and needs and invite you to comment and critique all materials. Among the treasures in our premiere issue: an exclusive interview with the incomparable Luis Rosenfeld. You’ll quickly learn his quirky tales about 2D mixed media and other unique mediums. He strongly believes art expresses ones profound beliefs when not influenced by the art market. Rosenfeld experiments with a variation of street art techniques that allows himself to create extra large prints, pastes them on almost any surface and then applies layers of polyurethane on parts of the prints he wants to draw attention to. Established in 1979, Olson-Larsen Galleries is a contemporary gallery representing 70 professional Midwestern artists. These artists are distinguished by full-time commitment to their careers, national honors, and competitive placements in regional, national, and international exhibitions. Most have either shown their work in major museums or have work included in permanent collections throughout the country. Recipients of NEA grants, Fulbright fellowships, other prestigious awards, and subjects of feature articles in arts journals, Olson-Larsen artists are recognized as among the best in their various fields. In 1970, the legendary Jan Shotwell opened Jan’s Gallery in Historic Valley Junction, thus establishing one of the first galleries in central Iowa to promote local and regional artists. Her pioneering dedication made it possible for a full-service professional service to thrive. In 1979, Ann Larsen and Marlene Olson purchased Jan’s Gallery, and renamed it Olson-Larsen Galleries. We are indebted to Ann, who skillfully
guided the gallery from 1979 to 1984. From 1984 to 2010, Marlene owned the gallery and continued to build on the reputation of representing the finest artists in the Midwest. Susan Watts purchased the gallery in 2010 after serving as manager under Marlene for seven years. Olson-Larsen is a full service gallery providing everything from initial assessment, proposals, and selection of art to conservation framing, delivery and installation, documentation, and appraisals on artwork sold. All services are rendered by an excellent in-house staff, educated and experienced in the arts. Olson-Larsen offers the same attention and quality services to individuals as to businesses and assists homeowners with everything from on-site consultations to formal proposals to art out-onapproval to installation.
