1. ARCHITECTURAL PROJECTS The Sports Harbor LPA, Canary Islands The sports harbor of Las Palmas is one of the points of greatest socio-economic importance of the island of Gran Canaria being the fulcrum of various activities that characterize the peculiarity of the entire archipelago.

However, there are problems due to the excessive accumulation of buildings that penalize the livability, the circulation of vehicles and people, the playful and sporting aspect rather than the commercial one. With the project of the Muelle Deportivo it is assumed an equitable distribution of new buildings, added services, circulation by land and sea of the multiple figures that live the aforementioned space without obstructing the panoramic view of which currently do not enjoy the citizens.

The Sports Harbor LPA, Canary Islands Water is the main element of a scenario. The project in its complexity, directs the gaze of the inhabitants towards the sea, undisputed element characterizing the surrounding landscape. The system of capsules designed, arranged according to a precise pattern, gives dynamism to the existing cycle path and offers three different levels from where you can see the port and the sea.

1. ARCHITECTURAL PROJECTS New Sailing School LPA, Canary Islands

The current Sailing School of the sports harbor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is an inefficient plant in many ways, essential for feeding the life of a port that has many features. The project involves the complete rehabilitation of the area relevant to the sailing school and to the main unit of the medical guard responsible for the district in question. The main design idea is to ensure that water is of vital importance, acting as a multiplying agent of reflexes in order to amplify the changing appearance that it is capable of having in relation to the space itself.

In fact, from the diagram in the plan we can see how water becomes part of the project itself, and how the sailing school no longer looks like a construction that is not part of the whole context that surrounds it. Thanks to the idea of making water become a fundamental element of the project, the architectures lend themselves to being accomplices of sinuous forms. The plant is shaped by three main bodies that house different functions inside them (a recreational area for refreshment / library, a service area and an area for sailing lessons). Observing the plan, we can see how water and the architectural space come into cohesion and are able to convey to users the real purpose of a sport activity so present for the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. In connection with the project guidelines previously described, the profiles also come into connection with the upper level, where the circulation of heavy vehicles and people is located. New Sailing School LPA, Canary Islands

From the sections and from the main profiles we can see how water is an integral part of the whole project. In fact it has also been studied on a structural level as porter solving a difference in levels that creates the large “pool” containing water. This project is the representation, according to my point of view, of how to go beyond the limits imposed by the common imaginary. The line that separates the sea from the mainland, especially in the case of a tourist sport port, does not have to be a pre-established border, it is necessary to communicate the natural element with the architecture. MAIN PROBLEMS THAT THE PROJECT IS UNDERTAKING TO RESOLVE: 1- The existing structure of the port claims to confine and remove the sea. 2 - Being a sailing school one can not perceive the importance of the water element in the current setting. 3 - The project does not allow users to enjoy views towards the sea. 4 - There is no connection with the existing road and cycle path. THE NEW LATIN SAILING SCHOOL: You address point 1 completely changing the whole structure of the project, originally there was no dialogue between architecture and the sea. Now the sea is clearly the protagonist element. This intervention refers to point 2, which deals with the non-communication between water and the main use that characterizes the project requested. Users of a sailing school must be able to live a space at the same level of the sea; the project aims to give this feeling. The current sailing school is used almost exclusively as a meeting point or service, for this reason the architecture from the back to the sea. Instead, the proposal allows users to enjoy panoramic views and use different types of services. Another fundamental aspect on which one works in order to improve is the non-connection between the project and the overlying road and cycle path. A precise connection point has been set up with the upper level that gives fluidity to the routes.

The project of 21 accommodation for sailors reflects the idea of establishing direct contact with a natural element. In fact, in this specific case water acts as an element that shapes the architectural space. The building is in the form of an open U, inside which there are 21 units for sailors who occasionally stay in the port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. All units have a main view towards the sea and a secondary one facing the interior where the heart of the project is located. The void that structures the plant houses the parking lot and a large basin that shapes all the design lines. In fact it is able to fill and empty thanks to the underground connection with the water of the port.

3. URBAN REUSE WORKSHOP Covering Waves, Pavillion 9E ex-Slaughterhouse, Rome

Urban Reuse is an international workshop through which project proposals are presented concerning the rehabilitation of Pavillion 9E of the Ex-Slaughterhouse of Rome. The project consists of an exhibition space, a cafeteria, services, a cover that replaces the original (no longer present) and an adequate integration with the context and the surroundings. The Ex-Slaughterhouse (G. Ersoch 1888) is a complex of “industrial archeology”, a group of buildings that have recently been recognized for their important urban role. Many of the original buildings have been renovated to accommodate several new programs. Despite the balanced (but still incomplete) process of updating, the Slaughterhouse does not yet interact completely with the surrounding urban environment. The aim of the laboratory is to reconnect the historic complex of the Slaughterhouse with the rest of the city through design solutions and architectural and landscape strategies, including the great opportunity to integrate the river Tiber into the life of the city. CONCEPT: The project aims to give vital importance to the Tiber River, not only from the point of view of integration with the project, but rather as a conforming element of architectural spaces. In fact, the design of the roof and of the external space have in common the design suggested by the wave motion of the river. The roof extends towards the outside of the pavilion, giving continuity and movement of the forms.

4. ROME 2025 WORKSHOP “ROME 20-25 - New life cycles of the metropolis “, an

International Workshop - “New life cycles of the metropolis” international workshop and an exhibition

involving twelve Italian and thirteen international universities to produce readings, visions and projects for the future Rome. Through a new map of the metropolitan city, identified as the vast perimeter of the social and economic life of today’s Rome, of the dimensions of 50 km of side, to which it is overlapping a grid that identifies 25 squares, each university has been assigned one portion of territory to read and design. There is a mosaic of interpretations and proposals on many subjects, from architecture to architecture landscape, from infrastructure to living.

GENERAL CRITERIA AND OPERATIONAL STRATEGY OF THE MOMENTUM PROJECT. Include ROME 20.25 in the European Green Belt (GBE) through a system of parks defined by the random agricultural structure that reproduces and grows starting from current geographic and social parameters, so that positions and items correspond to the parks in ROME quadrant 20.25: Nomentum and Gattaceca.

5. HOUSE & BOAT PROTOTYPE Tiny House and 60’ FT Boat - Case of Study - Naval Architecture with DuckDesign, Rome Tiny House’s proposal materializes the idea of living between land and water. When we are asked to design a tiny house, ie a minimal architecture, we need to focus on just one space, to understand that it is precisely that apparently static space that becomes dynamic thanks to small measures that make it habitable and innovative. The floating house has a clear concept: in plan and in section it is the minimum occupation of two areas that host different uses, that of day and night. These two areas of service are conceived in the same way: despite having different widths, they define a trajectory that crosses the house and which carries the gaze of the inhabitant beyond the boundary of it. In this way you do not perceive borders, the sea is the protagonist and shares its wealth with the floating house. The design of this tiny house is my expression of living, in its most intimate meaning. Share each space with another and be immersed in one.

Tiny House and 60’ Boat - Case of Study DESIGN FEATURES: Dimensions: 9.15 m / 4.40m for a total of 40 square meters The catwalk and the staircase are the only two fixed elements. When the floating house is not moored, passers-by can climb the ladder and see the view from a different point of view. When the house is in the port these two elements become private and allow those who live there to use the terrace designed as a relaxation area. Here there are photovoltaic films installed to make the structure self-sufficient and feed it in its entirety. The small terrace in front of the house opens up, expanding the space of about 5 square meters. The mobile panels placed on the south wall of the house serve to screen the light during the daylight hours.

Tiny House and 60’ Boat - Case of Study In addition, it houses a table that breaks down, leaving space even wider. The kitchen is designed as a single piece of furniture that takes up the entire length of the living area. It is composed of wall units finished with a reflecting material and LED lights that guarantee an illumination that emphasizes pure design lines. The master cabin is located at the bow and maintains the simple and refined lines of the original cabin. Retractable drawers have been created under the bed and the LED lighting follows the line of the furniture that rested on the hull section. Services: the project includes two separate rooms, one for the bathroom and one for the shower only to meet the different needs of those who live there. These two environments scan the space leaving the visual trajectory free and act as a support for the structure of the non-passing tree. The Dinette is composed of an armed wall in which the sofa is recessed. This facility has wardrobes for storing objects and equipment for water sports and folding chairs for mealtimes.

CONCEPT A boat is the most intimate expression of the relationship between architecture and water. The concept from which the project is derived is precisely that of being able to navigate without leaving aside the comfort and quality of a space made on a human scale.
