ONBOARDING

CLINICAL TRAINEE DAY: 2021 saw the biggest cohort of clinical trainees yet! We onboarded 12 wonderful clinical trainees.

MOCK DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENTS: Allison (Seaburg) Burford, along with several incredible volunteers, recorded 4 mock client sessions for training use: Adult DA, Child DA, Couples DA, and Tx Planning Sessions. This was in response to feedback from new clinical staff that they benefited from observations and wanted more opportunities to observe sessions. When there aren’t additional sessions available for new hires to observe, these mock session videos add to our rich training experience for clinicians learning the ropes at CARE. INTRANET RESOURCES: We’ve developed a new hire corner of the Intranet to house all of our onboarding materials, training videos, and clinical systems guide. This aides in a seamless onboarding process for new hires, as well as provides a place for seasoned staff to find answers to questions regarding systems and documentation. CONTINUALLY WORKING TO IMPROVE: The onboarding team also initiated a survey for new hires to complete after they have onboarded. The team has taken feedback received from these surveys and has reduced the required number of videos for licensed staff to complete.

INVESTING IN diversity + inclusion Developed a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Specialist Role at CARE! Yeah Hannah Dufek! Hosted 45 hours of in-house trainings focused on DEI. 30% of Grand Rounds and 25% of PILT (over 50% of our 2021 training incorporated content related to DEI)

Invested in CARE More so it continued to grow and be an important initiative at CARE. So far, CARE More has raised $65k! In the fall of 2021, we gave $10,000 directly to the University of St. Thomas to support the cost of books and student fees for BIPOC graduate students in counseling psychology. Hosted training on Cultural Humility and Inclusion training for lawyers in Minnesota. Continued our Staff BIPOC group and supported the BIPOC group’s Juneteenth celebration. Consulted with DEI leaders in the Twin Cities to listen and learn how to be better allies and to support diversity within our team. Sponsored attendance to Self-Care and Radical Healing for BIPOC Therapists Workshop.
