The International School Nido de Aguilas strives to be an open and dynamic global learning center.
Founded in 1934, The International School Nido de Aguilas is a private non-profit, co-education college preparatory day school that serves 1430 students from more than 48 nationalities in grades Pre-K through 12. In High School, 50% of students are Chilean, 17% are US citizens and 33% are citizens of other countries. Nido is the o cial U.S. State Department O ce of Overseas Education School in Chile and serves the international business and diplomatic communities as well as Chileans seeking an English language-based, liberal arts education that is influenced by US and Chilean thought and tradition.
UNWEIGHTED GPA
Only grades from courses completed at Nido de Aguilas are used in the calculation of a GPA using A=4.0, B=3.0, C=2.0, D/F=1.0. The highest possible unweighted GPA is 4.0.

The class of 2025 consists of 109 students of which:
100% are Nido (U.S.) Diploma candidates
61% are International Baccalaureate Diploma candidates
61.5% are enrolled in the Chilean National Diploma
35% are enrolled in all three Diplomas
95% are taking one or more IB certificates (not IBDP candidates)
Nido de Aguilas is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) in the United States and recognized by the Chilean Ministry of Education.
Nido is fully authorized as an International Baccalaureate World School to o er the Diploma Program.
Nido is a member of the Association of American Schools of South America and the National and International Associations of College Admissions Counseling.
The high school o ers (1) the U.S. high school (Nido) Diploma, (2) International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, and (3) the Chilean National Diploma. The language of instruction is English in grades 9-12, including more than 30 IB courses are in English, Spanish, Math, Sciences, Social Studies, Visual Art, Theatre, Design Technology and Music.
In 2024-25, Nido partnered with Syracuse University Project Advance (SUPA) to o er a dual credit, college-level course (Introduction to Entrepreneurship).
Learning Model: In 2024-2025 Nido High School shifted to a Competency-Based Learning Model. Each course has a defined set of competencies with explicit learning goals, aligned to standards, that all students should master.
Grading Scale: Grades are awarded on a Nido (0-4) mastery learning grading scale and converted to A-F grades on the Nido transcript. Final grades are only calculated at the conclusion of a course. University midyear grades reflect progress grades for all courses that are yearlong.
Grade Point Average (GPA): GPA calculations are made using course credit and course grades. The GPA conversion scale is: A+, A, A- = 4.0; B+, B, B- = 3.0; C+, C, C- = 2.0; D+ = 1; D-F = No Credit. Only courses taken at Nido are used for the GPA calculation.
Nido students have opportunities to participate in over 40 clubs & 13 sports.
Our high school faculty consists of 100% degreed teachers of which 63% hold advanced degrees. The average tenure of a Nido teacher is four years.
INTEGRITY AND UNIVERSITY COUNSELING
Nido de Aguilas limits the number of applications to a maximum of 10 and strongly encourages students to apply to 4 or fewer countries. Nido de Aguilas students should be considered serious applicants.
Nido de Aguilas students are required to sign and adhere to the school’s early decision policy which states that if a student applies early, and is accepted to that school, the student will enroll and withdraw all other active applications.
• Nido de Aguilas follows the US academic calendar starting the year in June and ending in June.
• The academic year is divided into two semesters, each with a comprehensive assessment period.
• Core courses are year-long and elective courses are semester based.
• International Baccalaureate SL courses meet for a minimum of 150 hours over a 2-year period.
Students have an eight-week summer vacation (December - February) prior to IB exams which are administered each year in May. Only final semester grades are reported on transcripts.
