ABOUT ME Architecture has been the highest challenge for me so far, it brought me from my small town in the east of the Netherlands, first to Delft than to Amsterdam and New York until Hong Kong as latest stop. My job that I prefer to call my first passion, gave me the chance to move, improve and discover. I like to bring my small but growing experience in what I do, translating people and society needs in a solid and touchable statement. I tried to build a stable stage of knowledge and experience around the world to make my mind flexible and ready for the new challenge. Architecture for me is the consequence of different factors, but also the preview of what is next. A single building can change a scenario, improve the city, answer to important social demands. Working in New York and Hong Kong opened my view on the world of possibilities and cultures. I realized how big can be the overall world of constructions. After the last two years and half I feel the will to go back to the old continent and to keep working in the place that I still consider the best in terms of historical values and attention to details.

The client bought a fifty years old house, located in the middle of the town, that had the chance to be enlarged through an extension. The aim of the project was to renovate the existing building, adding an ext ension that was connected physically and in terms of architectural language. In order to provide a good spatial relation between the existing part and the new one, the internal layout has been completely changed. During the design process, one of the key element has been the relation with the city, apertures were studied in order to exploit the benefits of the strategic location in terms of view and lights, with a particular attention to the privacy of the more private spaces of the house.

The space of work requests privacy, visibility and sharing at the same time. This space can be geometrically shaped and visually connected at the same time, this has been the main goal of the project. The idea for the design was based on grey scale tones in an effort to showcase the aesthetic and functional advantages of the chosen natural materials (stone and wood), but in the same time leaving complete freedom to the choice of furniture.

The Smart City development will be a new, mixed-use hub located in the High Tech zone in Ningbo. The concept behind the scheme is to generate activity throughout the day and into the evening. A combination of office, retail, and F&B accommodation organised in an urban layout has been carefully designed to be human in scale and so offer a welcoming and lively environment for users. The scheme is divided into two zones. The river front zone proposes two options; either commercial units or luxury villas, both of which have been developed to a high level of architectural detail to express the opportunities each can provide

1.
In developing the two schemes there are certain ideas that both designs share, and others that are unique to each. In common to both schemes is an approach to the design of the outdoor spaces and the way they interact with the built form to create a network of exterior space. This provides a variety of experience in the organisation of position, scale, and orientation of the different spaces.

This project in the Brugstraat concerns the renovation with the extension of an existing house. The composition in the main facade is based on rectangular shapes which try to keep a visual harmony between the windows, the doors and the facade itself. In order to match the new design, the entire interior layout has been changed. The house had to be completed following the contemporary ecological standards.

Hybrid building Study 2012 Amsterdam, the Netherlands 20.000m2 Municipality of Amsterdam
The “Amsterdam Marina” is my graduation project. The ‘Hybrid Buildings’ is a urban scale study and project studio focused on the analysis between architecture and urban environment. My attempt tried to show the strength and the opportunities of this area, located in Amsterdam North. The aim of this project is to create a physical and social relation between the consolidated city and this site, at that moment non well identified. This urban planning considers also the surrounding buildings and the people already living there.

During the third year at University I got the chance to do an internship in New York in Rietvelt Office. Once there, they gave me the possibility to collaborate at the design process of these two buildings. I was helping o the realization of a part of the masterplan, the maquette and several drawings. The tower is s 180 meter tall high-rise office building Dutch Top, that we designed a few years ago for AM . The building was proposed on the “E” location next to the Sloterdijk station in Teleport, Amsterdam. We never say that a project is dead, unless there is something built in it’s place, so we list this project as dormant

Laboratory Built 2006 Amsterdam, the Netherlands 80.000m2 Shell
During my first internship I worked as a planner for one of the biggest contractors of the Netherlands. I worked on one the largest projects, in Amsterdam. The project included the construction and installations of a laboratory for the Shell. I have gained much knowledge here as planner, in terms of safety, organization, structures, planning and the relationship between the construction site and the design.
