House c’ttee seeks emergency funds for NAPTIP
ABUJA - The House of Representatives Committee on Human Rights has called on the Federal Government to provide emergency funds for the National Agency for the
Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), to enable it discharge its duties effectively. Chairman of the
committee, Rep. Beni Lar, made the appeal in an interview with newsmen in Abuja yesterday.

Jonathan reads riot act WARRI (DELTA) - President Goodluck Jonathan weekend warned people involved in oil bunkering to desist from it or face the full weight of the law. Jonathan gave the warning at the ground breaking ceremony of the Nigeria Maritime University and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Ship and Dockyard in Okerenkpko, and Oporoza, Warri SouthWest Local Government Area of Delta. Jonathan, who

He condemned the disappearance of over 200 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno, by the Boko Haram sect, assuring that the girls would be brought to
safety. “I am happy with the support of the U.S., UK, Republic of China and France in searching for the missing girls and also fighting terrorism in
Nigeria. “We are worried because of the sudden disappearance of the over 200 young girls struggling to improve on their education.

Chibok Girls: APC welcomes
foreign support, advises Govt LAGOS - The All Progressives Congress (APC) said it welcomed the arrival of British and American experts in Nigeria to assist in finding the schoolgirls abducted in Chibok, Borno, on April 14. Chief Bisi Akande, the Chairman of the party said this at a press conference in Lagos yesterday. Akande also commended the offer of assistance by Canada, China, France, ECOWAS and the UN, among others to help find the girls. He said that the support being offered by the countries and organisations confirmed
the party’s belief that the war against terrorism was a global battle that needed all hands to be on deck. “ We thank all the friendly nations and global organisations that have expressed solidarity with our dear country in her hour of need. “And we urge those that have offered assistance to ensure it extends beyond finding our girls to dealing a crushing blow to the terrorists and defeating them once and for all,’’ he said.
