ABEOKUTA - The U.S government yesterday urged the Federal Government to ensure that the 2015 general elections were credible. The U.S Ambassador to

Nigeria, Mr. James Entwistle, made the call in Abeokuta during an official visit to the state. Entwistle, who was

accompanied by the U.S Consul General, Mr. Jeffery Hawkins, said that his country had interest in Nigeria’s 2015

As US-based group opposes celebration By ANDY EGBON BENIN CITY – A United States-based human emancipation action movement, Edo United for Homeland Empowerment, has taken a swipe at the federal government over the centenary celebration, describing it “as scornful, offensive, insensitivity and validation of the evil perpetuated against Edo people” by the British imperial powers. According to the body in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City, the excitement “about the centennial celebration of the amalgamation of Nigeria

is a cruel joke, remmiscent of the humiliation of Edo people and nation during the British foray which preceded the amalgamation of Nigeria. The statement was signed by Messrs Frank Ekhator HRA, Emmanuel Okunmwendia and Yuonne Omolayo Omoruyi, President, Director of Publicity and Secretary General respectively.
