PORT HARCOURT - The Rivers State Ministry of Health has placed about 100 persons who had contact with late Dr. Ike Sam Enemua, under 24-hour surveillance for possible symptoms of Ebola Virus Disease. This is as the ministry shuts down the late Enemua’s hospital, as well as the Good Heart Hospital, a private health facility, where he was treated until his demise and a hotel, where a staff of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), who was

treated by the late medical doctor lodged while he was in Port Harcourt. Enemua died on Friday, August 22, 2014, in Port Harcourt, and result of the

samples taken from him, which was released yesterday morning indicated that he died of the dreaded disease. The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sampson Parker, who disclosed this

while briefing journalists in Port Harcourt, said those quarantined include staff of the two hospitals, and the hotel, as well as the late Enemua’s wife.

... as NUT lauds FG for shifting resumption of ABUJA - The Nigeria schools Union of Teachers (NUT) has commended the Federal Government’s decision to postpone the resumption of schools in the country till October 13 to contain Ebola Virus Disease spread. The federal government had on Tuesday directed primary and secondary schools to resume in October instead September 8, following an outbreak of the disease in the country. It said that the order affected both private and public institutions. The federal government also said

the schools’ resumption date was postponed to enable school officials undergo a two-week mandatory training conducted by health officials on how to handle Ebola cases. Reacting to the development, the NUT President, Mr Michael Alogba-Olukoya, told journalists that the decision was commendable. Alogba-Olukoya said that the postponement was a proactive and bold step taken to contain the spread of the Ebola virus disease. Continues on page 2

Rainstorm Disaster: Edo Govt to

give relief materials to victims

FUGAR – All is now set for the supply of relief materials to victims of rainstorm disaster in Fugar, the administrative headquarters of Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State. The State Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Egberanmwen Odubu gave the assurance on behalf of Governor Adams Oshiomhole when he paid an assessment visit to the rainstorm victims in
