Welcome to EDITOR’S NOTE

date

Dear Future Pro Dancers and Cooking Extraordinaires, Welcome to your Date Night In Box! Tonight you will Dine and Dance the night away with your significant other! Greetings if you are joining us for the first time. If you have joined us before, we are so grateful for your continued investment in having a Date Night In. This month, we are putting a twist on the classic evening of dinner and dancing. Put on your dancing shoes because we have a fantastic night planned for you! Don’t worry if your moves are a bit rusty; our friend, Corey Burns, is here to help. You will be dancing like a pro in no time. Additionally, you will put your cooking skills to the test with an AWARD-WINNING sauce from our friends at Porzio’s. We’ll keep your date going with a few additional activities that are sure to have you laughing. We believe in going big or going home, so, later in this date guide, you will hear about the INCREDIBLE PRIZE we are prepared to give to one lucky couple who shares their moves with us. Don’t worry; the contest has nothing to do with skill and everything to do with enjoying each others company and trying something new! If you were given this date as a gift, then we would LOVE for you to join us again. We offer a variety of plans to fit your needs, and for the first time we’re offering the option to purchase a past date theme of your choosing. As we head into wedding season, please consider us as a gifting option to the newlywed couple in your life! And because many of your kiddos have finished up school, don’t forget we have a Kids Night In Box subscription as well. Simply visit www.nightinboxes.com and use code 15OFFNIB for 15% off all subscription plans. Warmly,

Megan Pruitt

OUR CHALLENGE It might be easy to enter the kitchen and fall into habits or your usual routine. Our hope is for you to break out of your comfort zone during this date. Below is our challenge, if you choose to accept!

SWITCH ROLES TONIGHT:

Try something

different! The person who usually cooks can take a step back and become the second-in-command. Encourage your significant other to prepare the meal while lovingly surrendering the reins.

NO DEVICES:

Be in the moment! Put your cell

phones on “Do Not Disturb” so you can enjoy the Spotify playlist, while being present in the moment with no distractions.

A N O T E F R O M O U R F R I E N D S AT P O R Z I O ’ S , Hi Pizza Lovers! We love that Date Night In has been a wonderful supporter of our small business, and we’re so excited to collaborate with them to make your date night special and one to remember. We hope you enjoy and we’d like to give you 25% off your next online order using code LOVEISINTHEPIE at Porzios.com. We’d love to see your pizza creations! Please share them with us at @porziossauce on Instagram and @porzios on Facebook! A little bit of history for you lovebirds.... In 1895, John Porzio came from Naples, Italy, and started the first pizzeria in Savannah, GA, called Porzio’s. It closed in 1969 but now our all-natural sauces are being crafted again using fresh ingredients grown all over the Southeast. You’ll find that our Pizza + Pasta Sauce balances a natural sweetness with a slight peppery kick that is great on pizza, pasta and all of your favorite Italian dishes. We also have two amazing flavors of fresh basil pesto: Rosemary Infused and Roasted Garlic. They will rock your world. We believe in only producing the good stuff—rich flavors with the highest quality ingredients—so you’ll never find preservatives, artificial ingredients or added sugars in any of our craft products. Thanks again and ciao!

talk

It’s time to sit back and enjoy a little bit of table talk this evening. Enjoy some fun, light-hearted discussion that is sure to bring something new to the table in your relationship!

Do you ever find yourself in “la la land” when your partner is talking to you? Have you ever snapped back into the moment after hearing the words “what do you think, babe?” There’s no doubt you care about your partner, but your attention is being pulled in a million different directions. “What am I going to make for dinner? When was the last time I showered? What do we have going on this weekend?” It can be easy to lose sight of the importance of giving your partner your full attention. When you’ve been together for a while, complacency can creep into a relationship. We all have an inherent need to be acknowledged and understood. But, being present in the moment can be a battle! Your significant other deserves for you to put up a good fight against distractions. Let’s put together a list of obstacles that prevent you from giving each other your undivided attention and create a plan of action for showing them who’s boss. Take turns going through the lists provided. Write your initials by each of the obstacles that resonate with you and each of the action steps that you’re willing to try out. A little effort shows a lot of love.

Follow the directions on the pizza crust mix and get busy cooking! If you don’t have additional ingredients at home or have not had time to prep, you will be able to make a delicious cheese pizza with the items found in your box.

O b s ta c l e s : –– My cell phone needs me. –– My crazy schedule has my thoughts. –– I’m trying to listen to two things at once. –– My focus is easily distracted. –– I’m already formulating a response to what you’re saying.

Action Steps: –– I’ll put away the electronics during quality time. –– I’ll speak up when something else is on my mind so that we can find a better time to talk. –– I’ll give you some sweet, sweet eye contact. –– I’ll enjoy a distraction-free date night with you! –– I’ll listen before I speak. Take a moment to discuss your results and any other obstacles or action steps not listed above.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: What time of day have you found to be most productive and distractionfree for sharing your thoughts with each other? Take turns completing this sentence and sharing your answers: During quality time with you, I appreciate it most when you give me your attention by ______________. Activities, like trying out a new recipe or challenging yourselves to learn new dance moves, are fantastic opportunities to practice being present in the moment with each other. This evening, you can even bring a few of the ideas you checked above into play! Cheers to dining, dancing and living in the moment with my one and only!

A NOTE FROM MEGAN, F O U N D E R O F DAT E N I G H T I N B O X

My husband and I had a blast dancing in our college days, and we sometimes get the opportunity at weddings and on special occasions. However, I’m fairly sure we have been using the same three or four moves for a long time. Recently, while attending my daughter’s dance class, I saw an adorable couple working with our friend, Corey Burns (Owner of Burns Dance Studio), to choreograph their first dance for their wedding. Instantly, I knew we needed to make this date night a reality and bring it to your home for you to enjoy. We encourage you to participate in this activity with an open heart and have some fun!! You may not be ready for America’s Got Talent, but you can still enjoy time together.

- Megan Visit datenightinbox.com/dine-and-dance to join your dance instructor, Corey Burns, on a guided dance adventure. He will provide step-by-step instructions for three different styles of dance: Carolina Shag, Hip-Hop and a dance to show off at special occasions! Feel free to practice each style a few times or find your favorite and perfect it.

30 date dash second

Locate your phone and cards for 30 Second Date Dash

and get ready to think on your toes.

OBJECT Score the most points by giving five answers before the time runs out!

SET UP –– Place the cards facedown on the table where you both can reach them. Use one of your phones to create a 30-second timer for each card.

P L AY –– Play a round of rock-paper-scissors. Whoever loses will be in the hot seat first. –– The winner of rock-paper-scissors will draw the first card and read it aloud. All cards begin with “Name 5…” followed by random categories. For example, the card may read, “Name 5 great restaurants for date night.” –– As soon as the card is read, start the timer. The player in the hot seat has 30 seconds to give five answers. If the player gives five answers before the time runs out, he or she earns one point. To keep track of points easily, simply keep the card in front of you. –– If the player in the hot seat is unable to come up with five answers, then no points are awarded. He or she will pass the card to Player 2. Player 2 will then get a chance to give their answers to the same question. Here’s the tricky part: Player 2 cannot use any answers that were previously used for that card. –– Play continues until someone can name 5 correct answers successfully and wins a point. –– Alternate turns in the hot seat after each point.

Winning the Game Once all the cards have been played, tally your points. Each card in front of you is worth one point. The player with the most points is the winner!
