SCHUMAN PLACE Winning Competition Project, 2017, Belgium, COBE Team members: Dan Stubbergaard, Caroline Nagel, Maria Aufegger, Dorte Buchardt Westergaard, Rasmus Lassen, Nika Koraca Urban development of the Schuman roundabout and areas around Located in the heart of the European Quarter in Brussels, Belgium, and surrounded by the main institutions of the European Union, Place Schuman constitutes the entrance to the EU. The project consist of an agora covered with an iconic roof structure place between nationalities, cultures, languages and genders. The agora is designed as concentric circles, inspired by the European Parliaments’ hemicycle. The circles continue in the surrounding pavement, emphasizing Place Schuman as the center of European a democratic gathering point, all citizens and insittutions of the European Union are unifyed under one roof.

TRANSFORMATION OF THE MIDDLEGROUNDS FORT Master thesis, 2016, Denmark Transformation of an old army fort into a modern art museum The project combines the idea of creating a modern museum in a heritage military fort, through transformation with a focus on sustainability and atmosphere. By utilizing the attributes on the island, the visitor becomes aware of this rare gleam of secluded atmosphere in the middle of Copenhagen. The design considers and explores the balance between the existing structure and a series of new additions, in order to both maintain and emphasize the identity of the site. Natural light is employed as one of the main parameters in the design process, where it is investigated and utilized both in terms of structures are showcased, with the new additions providing a different way of experiencing the fort. Several punctures are placed throughout the island, creating a connection between the fort and the surroundings. Functioning as light wells, these structures are implemented to optimize indoor conditions as well as of the preexisting lighthouse sets the frame for the integrated solutions.

SPA WITH A VIEW Master thesis, 2017, Slovenia Spa on a hilltop with a view over the sea The aim of the project was to create a meaningful addition on top of a hill with an amazing view of the Slovene coast. The possibilities were vast and several different parameters were considered. The building is a simple rectangular shape which is then divided by closed volumes. The closed spaces are used for intimate functions of the spa; such as massage, relaxation and therapy rooms. Space between them is more then just a hallway. It connects the volumes and opens up to give the visitor a view of the surroundings. Separate from the main building lies the sauna with stunning views to the east. The aim was to create a simple building that relates to the nature and does not disturb it. The construction is completely wooden. The juxtaposition of the open and the closed spaces is emphasised and embraced in the construction and the facade. Burned wood is used due to its strength and durability. Open spaces are carried with a cross laminated timber beams and columns.

SUSTAINABLE DWELLING 8th Semester Project, 2016, Denmark Sustainable housing in the centre of Aalborg The aim of the project was to create a sustainable dwelling in a dense environment. The chosen location was the centre of Aalborg on a site between existing buildings, a railroad and one of the most busy roads. Our concept was to create a series of different spaces ranging from public, semi-public to private on the edge of the site. The project draws upon a sense of movement between spaces, gradually progressing from a public to a completely private space. Having a strong connection to the city was important, in addition to creating a gathering space in the heart of the site and additionally creating private gardens for the families. several sustainable strategies.

HATLEHOL CHURCH 7th Semester Project, 2015, Norway Modern wooden church in Norway The project seeks to create a church complex which conveys sacristy through the simplicity of form in addition to a play of light and shadow.
