Semester 4, Individual Project
The intent of the design is to provide a space whice is convinent for living and also for working for artisans. The handicrafts are made, taught and sold here. Three choosen handicrafts which are Kondapalli wooden toys making, Kalamkari cloth painting and Saree weaving are done and being taught in this crafts center.
SITE SPECIFICATIONS
Location: National Gandhi Museum, Opp Raj Ghat, Jawahalal Nehru Marg, New Delhi, Delhi, 110002
Site Area: 10115 sq.m
Predominant Wind Direction: North- North West
Climate: Humid Subtropical and Semi- Arid.
DESIGN CONCEPTS
Design process started by segrigating the spaces convinent for working and living. The workspaces are incorporated with green space to enhance work experience.
Naturally existing trees are utilized and converted into shaded spaces to work in the shaded open areas.
As the site is situated near historical heritage sites, exposed brickwork is incorporated in the design to maintain the harmony and it also gives the visualization of a workspace.

Traditional handi crafts that are that are incorporated in Crafts Center
Kondapalli wooden toys making is a famous handicraft in Kondapalli, Andhra Pradesh. These toys are made from a different type of wood available only in the forrest near Kondapalli village.
Kalamkari Painting is a traditional and old painting style on clothes. It is originated in Srikalahasthi, Andhra Pradesh. Stories of Hindu mythology are painted using natural colors on sarees and clothes.
Saree weaving is a traditional craft is few places of Andhra Pradesh.Eventhough the income is very less, saree weaving families depend only on saree weaving.

The brief of the design is to build an incubation cell for young people to develop new startups and research on their ideas. Auditorium, Exhibition, Cafe and services are to be incorporated. Designing on this site is challenging as the site is contoured and contours are needed to be modified for construction.

Predominant Wind Direction: South- West
Climate: Tropical wet and dry climate bordering on a hot semi-arid climate
DESIGN CONCEPTS
The intention is to create the spaces which emphasizes the walkability of the users. It is achieved through the relationship between the built up and open spaces.
All the spaces have an identity, connects to the central courtyard.
Walkways are designed is such a way that they are not interrupted by any vehicular paths and create a walkable environment

• The levels are segregated according to their function
• To reduce the wall exposure to the sun, more surfaces are developed
• The development is done through subtractive process

DESIGN PROCESS
• The design exercise is to carve out personal spaces from a 7m x 7m cube. The process started by carving out shapes from a cube.
ISOMATIC SECTION
Windows for light and ventilation are carved out from the solid cube.
THE CUBE
Semester 1, Individual Project
• The Sphere is scouped out of the cube to incorporate the habitual spaces.
• The cube is tilted 45° get the final form
The cube is tilted to make the sloping roof to run off rain water.
A platform is made in the hallow sphere to make the floor.

BUS STOP DESIGN
Semester 5, Time Problem
The intent of the design is to accommodate electric cycles stand in a bus stop. The bus stop itself generates electricity for the electric cycles and ATM existing in the bus stop. The design of the bus stop is inspired from modern abstract art Piet Mondrain
Opening toward north to get northern light in the day time
Solar Panel facing south to produce electricity for electric cycles in the bus stop

EWS UNIT DESIGN
Semester 7, Individual Project
The brief of the design is to design residential units for economically weaker section. The site is blocked from all there direction. Light and ventilation come from only one direction. Units are designed for a hilly region.
