Anthropogenic activities have radically changed the carbon cycle and the flow of biodiversity, bringing new challenges and demands in every aspect of our lives. The construction industry changed direction abruptly from the 20th century onwards, participating openly in both the increase of anthropogenic mass, carbon dioxide emissions and pollution of ecosystems. Using building materials to meet the construction needs of 8 billion people, we are called upon to renegotiate the use of cement and reinforced concrete in which we grew up. Considering the whole life cycle of the materials and the embodied carbon they carry, we need to turn our attention to domicological materials that interact positively with the industry and the builder, at each stage of their processing.
