Core Objectives of the Centre • To make visitors see the scale waste is generated at and through actions we may not even realise • Through the process of making and hands- on activites, introducing to them ways of re-imagining our waste • To make them start seeing waste generated as not an end product but the start of something new • To make them take this thought back home, and start thinking more consciously about the choices they make about the things they buy, how they use them, and most importantly, how they get rid of them.

THE CORE MATERIALS Keeping in sync with the theme of the experience centre, frequently disposed waste has been used in designing spatial elements such as partitions at the centre. The aim is to balance overwhelming the user and showing them possibilties of re-purposing wasted objects.

WHY? Tyres will be used to add an element of quirckiness to the place and enable more creativity in people. Rubber will also be explored with in workshops to show various ways it can be used as the number of tyres ending up in landfills only mutiply ever day.

WHY?

Being the biggest contributer to the waste harming our planet today, and the most critical material to start reflecting on, plastic will be used in a large percentage, and located in a way that the users always see it, and unconsciously realise the weight this material holds

Wood as a material is extremely versatile and the intention of using an element such as wooden crates in multiple different forms to create usable furniture, storage etc. is to inculcate the thought in people’s minds about to what extent a material can be recycled before it is termed as “waste”
