Sound install tion
SOUL Sense of the place and identity The project was located in VICOLO DEI LAVANDAI one of the old area of Milan which has a strong history behind it. But nowadays this area is overshadowed by the large numbers of bars and restaurant. During 50s this area was used by local to wash their clothes. The strong sense of belonging to family and community is lost in present time. But some people still leaves in that area loves to cherish the old memories of the past. The objective of this project is to bring back the community values by continuing to preserve Vicolo memory. The Soul is sound installation system that brings the same old atmosphere in the main courtyard and helps recreate the feeling of past in that area.
SOUL has a shape that comes from the idea of the Brellin, the stone where women used to wash clothes: sounds are coming out by touching SOUL with the foot or sitting on it. The circular and curved shape gives the installation a modular aspect which allows SOUL to work independently, but also as a communityt.
SOUL is a sound installation based on community values: from the threshold of the Vicolo people is brought into the main courtyard through sounds that characterize the historical life.
WATER This natural element rapresents not only the sound of water, but also the the work of the washwomen: cleaning, scrubbing and fluffing clothes.
At the end of the route,a poster will explain the meaning of each sound,
HORSES' WALK For the commercial transportation people used the carts dragged by horses.
SINGING People sang traditional songs like “o mia bella madunina” or “la bella la va al fosso”.
BIKE'S HORN A lot of time some people come near the building to sell something, like the knife sharpener, they usually draw the neighbors with the sound of the bike’s horn.
CHATS The women around the working place used to chat in Milanese dialect about helping each others, sharing experiences and gossip.
CONVIVIALITY A tipical event of the neighborhood was eat together in the middle of the courtyard. This concept is express by the sound of dishes and the conversations among neighbors.
The sound producers are placed along the Vicolo and in the courtyard, creating a path.
CHILDREN PLAYS The children’s fun is come from the sound of laughs,of bounces and the counting of hide and seek.
In this way people will feel the community mood and they will be prompted to recreate it.

STONE ISLAND Temporary Exhibition Rho Fiera Milano The project is to create a stand through which for experiencing Stone Island brand history, celebrating their 30 anniversary. From the formal viewpoint we wanted to recreate the idea of a technological nature, starting from the assumption that Stone Island is supposed to be a sportswear brand but it is more urban and technological. As the history of the brand taught us, the decontextualization of the materials is a well -known process for them. As they took elements from militar world shifting it into fashion, we decided to use the same process: taking materials from fashion into architecture. Thus, collecting insight from the history of the brand we create an exhibition stand that mixs technological feelings with nature shapes and tells the history of fashion through a time travel at a march rythm, highlighting the militar and mechanical sensation that we perceived from the brand.

3. MARCHING THROUGH THE TIME
The first moment is the experience of entering and discovering new things. The stand will attract people with its floating appealing recalling the image of a mysterious floating and technological island. To get in, the user should stoop, strenghtening the entrances experience
Once the user had a first contact with the space and the brand, the most powerful experience will start. A trip into the history of the brand, guided by a frosty and unconcerned model marching along screens that follow the temporal evolution of the brand. He marches as a soldiers, chaning jackets according to the period he traspasses
2. OVERHANGING AND DISORIENTING FEELINGS The second moment is the one that relates the user with the brand in a more general way. The user will be immersed in a new environment in which natural feelings of overhanged and supreme natural elements are mixed with a cold, mechanical and industrial sensation.
