The main design goal was to create a threshold/ gateway from the land to the water and to create a major cultural landmark/ destination in Downtown Jacksonville. This was achieved by creating connections to the urban context using strong lines of influence derived from key contextual buildings. The intersection of the lines created a strong play on negative and positive space which was used as a primary design element throughout the entire building. The structure is a steel system made up of steel columns, I-beams, and bar joists. The mechanical system uses a network connection method to achieve maximum surface area.

The objective was to redesign the existing lobby of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, in New York, Ny. The existing lobby is located on the south-west end of the building and faces an urban plaza. The goal was to integrate a series of building systems in order to create a meaningful architectural space which successfully addresses the following: • Overall quality of space • Construction details and connections • Environmental comfort • Natural and artificial lighting • Building envelope aesthetic • Views to the outside • Structural integrity and structural expressionism • Functional circulations

"Architecture is inhabited sculpture". This quote is the driving force behind this project. To me sculpture is a plastic art, and the process I wish to explore is carving (the removal of material). Like Le Corbusier, I believe that “light is the key” and that in the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary. Diane Frolov said that “Light is knowledge, light is life, light is light”. A museum is a place to learn so why not learn about light. Each orientation is molded to produce a different quality of light from the sun rises to its setting. The scale and proportion of the building was derived from the proportions of the Golden Section. The sculptural element of the building was inspired by a large oak tree named Treaty Oak located in Jacksonville. To the people of Jacksonville the tree represents growth and knowledge as it has become a historical significant element. Like a tree the building has a central core with spaces brancing off.

This project connects to the large shipping industry present in Mobile, Alabama. The idea was to take the form and use of a hull of a boat and re-interpret it into a building design. With the main function of the building being a 850 seat theatre which was expressed from the exterior as the hull of the boat. It will be a place that residence of Mobile will be proud to call their own and it will become an icon of the city.

This project includes retail, offices, apartments, and a parking garage. Mobile has very good iron work so I decided to base my project around the use of different styles of iron work that coincide with the function of the space. Some historic buildings are surrounding the site so necessary actions were taken to ensure that the sanctity of the buildings was kept. This was done by increasing setbacks from the street and lowering building heights close to the smaller surrounding buildings.
