ALL ABOUT YOU A Little Bit Here And There
Healthy, Happy Eating!
Interval Training

What is interval training? “Interval training helps Olympic athletes run faster, jump higher, and finish stronger. And it can help you, too! Sure, you may not be trying to break any records or “go for gold” when you go for a power walk. But you can use Interval training to make the most of your workout at any level.
Ingredients: • 3 large ripe avocados – halved, pitted, and scooped out • ¼ medium red onion, minced • 1-teaspoon fresh lime juice • ½-teaspoon soy sauce • ½-teaspoon sesame seed oil • 2-teaspoons toasted sesame seeds • 2-tablespoons chopped cilantro • Fresh cracked black pepper, to taste • Kosher or sea salt, to taste (optional)
Interval training is all about variety – changing your speed or alternating different activities. Get started by adding short bursts of intense activity to your exercise routine.” How to interval train: Walking! For a 30 minute walk, add in bursts of brisk walking for 30 seconds. For a walking/jogging pace, walk a brisk pace for 30 minutes. Mix in 30 seconds bursts of jogging. For a faster pace of jogging/running, jog at your regular pace for 30 minutes, and add bursts of faster-paced running!
Get Cooking! 1. In a bowl, mash the avocado with a fork until it is nearly at your desired consistency. Stir in the red onion, lime juice, soy sauce, sesame seed oil, sesame seeds, cilantro, and pepper. Season with additional salt if desired. 2. Serve immediately or else press a piece of plastic wrap flush into the top of guacamole, refrigerate, and serve preferably within 24 hours.
The perks of interval training: Burning calories and fat (adds intensity to your workout) Improving your fitness (raises heart rate to build cardiovascular fitness) Fighting boredom (adds an extra beat to your workout) Find your pace KEIRO NORTHWEST FAMILY NEWS
