Enjoy Asian and American comfort foods from childhood! Owner, Terry Takeuchi hopes to reawaken fond memories through his culinary creations. VISIT IRON CHEF CHALLENGER TAICHI KITAMURA We will visit Chef Taichi Kitamura at Sushi Kappo Tamura enjoying his creations using local and fresh ingredients. He will talk about the time he beat Bobby Flay on “Beat Bobby Flay” and his philosophy on using sustainable ingredients in his creative dishes. Your lunch has been specially prepared by Chef Kitamura. LOVE AND PICK HAZELNUTS As part of the Living Well Series, we will be picking our own organic hazelnuts. Hazelnuts is known for improving your heart, brain and skin and if you eat is all the time, it could even protect you from cancer. We will visit Blue Hazel Farm, located in Arlington, WA where we will pick our own hazelnuts. It is a non-profit program to transform the lives of refugees and immigrants by providing pathways to sustainable employment in the food industry, and enriching communities through intercultural exchange. Eating more fish and plant based proteins is very critical for your health. Fish contains omega-3 fatty acids which is good for heart and brain health. Fish is also rich in vitamin D and B2, and a great source of minerals. You will learn how to make fish paste cooked in two methods, deep fried and steamed. Deep fried fish will be served with simmered root vegetables. Steamed fish will be cooked in clear soup made of dashi broth. UNDERSTANDING AND RESPONDING TO DEMENTIA-RELATED BEHAVIORS This workshop provides hands-on tools for interacting with individuals with dementia-related behaviors that can be challenging for caregivers. NIKKEI HORIZONS UKULELE BANDS Let’s kanikapila! Nikkei Horizons has four ukulele bands- Kimochi, Niko Niko, Na Aikane and Hana Ho, focusing on improving playing skills in a warm, fun, and nurturing atmosphere.
