February 2017 marked the opening of an important new exhibition at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, highlighting the 75th anniversary of Executive Order 9066. Chirashi sushi, literally meaning “scattered sushi,” is a variety of sushi which is a popular dish at Japanese home parties. Even though it is served year-round, the colors remind us of spring flowered fields. It is often served at Hinamatsuri parties or ohanami picnics. Ingredients vary by regions and homes. In this class, Yuka Honda will mix cooked gobo, carrots and tofu in sushi rice, and scatter egg crepes, radish slices and broccoli rabe over rice. It will be served with a cup of manila clam clear soup and watercress and wakame sea vegetable salad with miso dressing. There will also be a strawberry amazake drink served as dessert. ENHANCEFITNESS IN SEATTLE A full hour of fun with lively music! EnhanceFitness focuses on dynamic cardiovascular exercise, strength training, balance, and flexibility—everything that active older adults (55 & up) need to maintain health and function as they age. This class is highly adaptable for all fitness levels and includes the option to use a chair for support. Weights are provided. A certified EnhanceFitness instructor will guide your progress. We recommend taking the class at least twice a week. New students will be asked to complete some forms after enrollment. CHAIR YOGA Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. Students can learn many kinds of yoga postures that focus on balance, strength and flexibility as well as breathing techniques, meditation, and ways of relaxation. It is specifically designed for seniors, people with physical challenges, or anyone wanting a slower-paced exercise program. YOGA FOR HEALTHY AGING

Throughout the quarter we will practice Yoga for Strength, Flexibility, Balance and Agility; important physical skills for staying healthy and independent as we age. We will use these skills to cultivate cardiovascular health, brain health and reduce chronic stress. We will also practice cultivating equanimity: learning how to manage stress, maintain emotional stability, and learn new ways of thinking about our lives. All classes will consist of Asana (yoga poses), Pranayama (breath practices) and Meditation. Yoga poses will include variations and options for using props, making the class accessible for everyone. Welcome for all levels of students including beginners. Please bring to class a yoga mat, blanket, 2 black yoga straps (or scarf or belt) and a full water bottle. Let’s kanikapila! Nikkei Horizons has four ukulele bands- Kimochi, Niko Niko, Na Aikane and Hana Ho, focusing on improving playing skills in a warm, fun, and nurturing atmosphere. MIZUHIKI ZAIKU — ADVANCED LEVEL In this class you will learn to play by watching, listening, and practicing. In a very short time you will have a repertoire of songs to share with your family and friends. Songbooks are provided.
