O-
I have always considered myself a fit, athletic person. I played soccer since the age of 5 and basketball since I was 12. I have always loved sports. But I have found the older I get, the harder it is for me to keep the weight off.
50 lbs!? It really started during my undergrad. You know the saying, Freshman Fifteen? Try Freshman Fifty. I gained about 50 lbs. I was no longer playing soccer year round like I was in high school, I dormed and had a meal plan at the cafeteria, which was all you can eat. So I went from running 20-60 miles a week and constant training at soccer practice in the Fall and basketball in the Spring to pretty much nothing. I also ate the same, I ate like an athlete who needed the calories because she was always burning them off, but now I wasn’t burning the calories like I once was and they all went straight to my spare tire and thighs. So, I constantly joke that I was meant to be fat, but I was so athletic my fat kid never could make it’s appearance.
1 | Introduction 2 Fighting My Internal Fat Kid
This book is a journal of sorts of my internal struggle with this “fat kid.” I love sports and I could run around playing soccer all day, but I HATE going to the gym. Well, unfortunately I don’t have access to a soccer team I can play with, so the gym is one of the main ways I work out and keep fit. I have a major love/hate relationship with the gym. So, I thought I would share this relationship with you, because I am sure you all can relate. Every gym is different, but every gym has it’s quirks and things you just can’t stand. Or it could just be you hate going to the gym and rather be at home sleeping in or eating a pizza, but you know deep down, the gym is the better choice, so you drag yourself out of bed and hit that treadmill. I will be exploring different aspects of the gym and my relationship with it and you will be seeing my gym and the things I see at this gym while I work out.

GET UP! GET UP! GET UP!
SERIOUSLY IT’S TOO EARLY FOR
WHY DO I GET UP SO EARLY JUST TO WORKOUT?!
SO SORE...BUT I’m in a good mood! I do feel good, feel like I’m going to get a good workout in today even though I woke up pretty sore. As soon as my alarm went off and I rolled over to get up I felt it. I was SORE. I was definitely feeling the previous days workout. So first things first, where’s my ibuprofen! Did my morning routine and decided to ride my bike again. I think I will make that a regular thing, it’s rough, but it’s good extra exercise to push myself.
16 | Day Two
Even though I was sore, I noticed exercise has a weird effect on me, and I’m sure it’s like this for pretty much everyone (except those weird fitness freaks). But, I dread exercising and wish I could stay in bed and just lounge around the house, but when I do exercise and put the work in I feel so much more energized and can really function better throughout the day. So, yes I know, exercise is good for you, but it’s so much more fun to be lazy and fat.

THIS WORKOUT WILL BE A I’M FEELING GOOD TODAY.
8am...BUT... As of right now I’m feeling pretty good, maybe it’s the caffeine talking, but I was ready for my workout today and actually in a pretty good mood. On a side note, whenever I go to the gym I do cardio first, whether it be running on the treadmill or doing the elliptical. I always have my headphones on and listen to music and by the cardio machines there are TV’s also, but I always find I tend to people watch. And let me tell you, the gym has some interesting characters.
28 | Day Four
Today, I was on the treadmill when I noticed one of the trainers walking by with her client. Now, I don’t want to be mean, but the first thing that came to my head was, why is this trainer fat? The client, even myself, is fitter than this trainer. Now, my thinking is, if you make a living making others fit and healthy, then maybe you should be too, I wouldn’t pay for a fat trainer, just sayin’.

34 | Day Five
HATE IT!! Hate my alarm. HATE IT! I rather get up to go to work. At least work pays me. Speaking of which, I pay the gym. I PAY THE GYM to basically suffer. That’s what it feels like right now. Anyway, at the gym today I did my normal routine, cardio first than weights. And today, while I was on the treadmill, there was a guy on the treadmill in front of me who needs to invest in shorts with elastic or a tie because his pants literally kept falling off his ass. So myself, along with everyone on the treadmills next to me were treated to the view of a fat ass every few minutes before he pulled his pants back up, it was glorious (sarcasm intended).
noticed a long time ago. But certain songs totally hype me up. I thought when I listened to music while working out it was more of a background type of thing, just to hear music instead of the noise of the treadmills, etc. But, today I noticed certain songs make me run faster and I didn’t even notice I’ve been doing it until now. Most Michael Jackson songs will get me running faster and Akon’s Sexy Bitch will get me running faster, because face it, that’s why I’m at the gym, to become a sexy bitch, haha.
And I had a new epiphany today, which is probably something I should have
