ABOUT

I am a designer focused on the people and their experience of a space, supported by the core values of function, durability and comfort. For this experience to be meaningful and continuously relevant, I believe that the creative process should revolve around the study of traditional values combined with innovation. Influenced by art, symmetry, the beauty of the detail, I am drawn to furniture design.

FA CA DE & I N T E RIOR DESIGN OF A VEGETERIAN RESTAURANT

PR OJ EC T D E S C R IPTION:

TEAM:

The goal of this project was to design a vegetarian restaurant which will surpass the traditional notion of eating green and convey a balanced combination of education, service and experience about food. Spreading the awareness of “zero kilometer food “– that is, sourcing food as near as possible to where you live, and being exposed to a different setting both outside and inside have been our guiding principles in planning and executing this assignment. By choosing neutral and earthy colors we canvassed the scene for displaying the beauty of the dish, and managed to avoid the trap

of bold and vibrant colors as distracting. PE RS ON A L R E S P ONSABILITIES:

My involvement in this project covered a full range of work from conception until the site supervision in the final days of construction. Supervised by two senior designers, I was engaged in the interior and façade conception and design, furniture design and technical drawings, graphic design direction and site meetings.

Symmetry and organics fuse together through the selection of materials and fixtures. Faรงade design took the advantage of multiple circular windows (with plants visible from the inside) symbolizing a plate containing raw food. This solution welcomes guests from the street to enter and submerse themselves in something different.

PR OJ EC T D E S C R IPTION:

TEAM:

“Picture yourself walking into a smoky bar. A jazz band plays, its timbre melting into the ambience. The soft hum of conversation grows louder as you approach table no.7. An enigmatic man with a colorful past, Mr. M is effortlessly stylish, unshakably cool and dangerously charismatic. He has the best of the Old and New World courtesy of his upbringing as an English gentleman and his globe – trotting adventures. However, Mr. M could never capture was the heart of his beloved, so he created Foxglove, named after his lost lover’s favourite flower, to win her back. ”. This Hong Kong speakeasy is disguised as an umbrella shop, and is accessed via a secret doorway towards the back of the boutique. We aimed to create a fantasy setting inspired by this hypothetical English gentleman, by designing elements inspired from that era.

This is my second project with NCDA where I covered a full scope of work from the beginning until the final realization. I was involved in the interior, umbrella shop and façade design. Also, I actively participated in light fixtures, furniture design and their technical drawings. A particular enjoyment for me was the design of the brass installation in the main dining because this is a resemblance of an airplane turbine. Another engagement was in the process of material selection, graphic design direction and site meetings.

The entrance to the bar is via a “secret door in the Fox umbrella shop, an elegant walk-through boutique featuring classic silver handle umbrellas within brass edged wall cabinets.

A sculptural cream colored lacquered ceiling wraps around the main lounge and cocktail bar area (80 guests). The boldly cinematic interiors draw on a moody palette of darker finishes and rich materials to give the space a masculine allure.

SH OP F R O N T & INTERIOR DESIGN OF A THAI RESTAURANT & BAR

PR OJ EC T D E S C R IPTION:

TEAM:

“Mak Mak” in Thai language means “a lot of ” so, our guiding principle in designing of this project was to create “Mak Mak” with vibrant spirit, closed packed sitting and communication. We succeeded in it by designing façade and interior for this restaurant and bar specializing in modern interpretation of classical Thai cuisine and Asian- inspired cocktails with creative twist. The design is a replica of a Thai grocery shop, with two different spaces representing the storefront and the dining area with informal environment.

The research was based on cultural values of Thailand in the past 50 years, such as family, lifestyle, pop culture and popular food brands. Mak Mak is comprised of two spaces with distinctly different purposes. Inspired by a traditional venue found on the back streets of Bangkok which consists of a shop with the owner’s home attached, this restaurant features a storefront resembling a traditional Thai grocery shop and a 60-seat homey dining area.

DE SI GN O F T H R EE MAKEOVER INTERIO R LINES FOR McDONALDS USED IN ASIA, MI DD LE E A S T & AFRICA

PRO JE C T D E S C R IPTION:

TEAM:

NCDA was approached with a task to create a distinctive new image for McDonald’s restaurants in the APMEA (Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa). The makeover consists of interior design, graphic and furniture design, providing the brand with a fresh new image that is stimulating and inspirational yet familiar and recognizable for McDonald’s customers.

NC Design & Architecture Ltd.

PE RS ON A L R E S P ONSABILITIES:

During my work in NCDA I was part of the design for the “Zero Base”, “Alphabet” and “Superfood” line. Throughout one year, I was involved in restaurant design for some APMEA countries. My main role in these restaurant projects encompassed interior design, furniture design and technical drawings, graphic design direction and one company visit to Shanghai to instruct local architects in the application of our design for other cities in China.

The “Zero Base” designing is done using locally sourced materials and furniture, infused with multicolored graphics, where our aim was to use the least amount of elements to create the maximum visual impact. Strong colorful graphics (inspired by food) came in form of free standing partitions which break down a large space into small intimate zones, tables and wall hung artworks.

The goal of Alphabet makeover line is a brand refresh strategy that uses natural materials, plantings, crafted letters and food illustrations to reach more ‘gourmet’ like restaurant experience. The first Alphabet makeover restaurant was located in an Art Deco building in Shanghai, which was an inspiration for the letters style and the artworks used. This line uses the ‘Minimal’ furniture line designed by NCDA.

Schoolwork 2014 COURSE:

Major Furniture Design PR OJ EC T D E S C R IPTION:

The main idea in this project was to create a sport activity which would serve as an ultimate destination for recreation among young community. The starting point for this effort was an economic study about growing interest in different sports and how we can implement the findings of this study in our project. The answer led us to the increased interest in surfing. We proposed a rooftop beach environment which will be fun, socially oriented, but at the same time with an extreme character. People would use it as a man-made beach or picnic zone in a city. The duration of this project was one academic year and our team developed a surfing complex, interior with a bar and shop and a small furniture element.

The concept for ‘The Spot’ comes from the economic study that the surfing community is rapidly growing and Tel Aviv might be the next new surfing spot. Therefore, we wanted to recreate a ‘beach’ on a rooftop with a multipurpose character. Inspired by the ‘trade marks’ of a typical beach i.e. waves, sand, and tropical greens, we offered surfing, picnic space, surf shop and surf museum within 400 m2.

The keyword in this project is ‘empathy’. Our assignment was to design and build an installation in cooperation with ‘DanceHouse’ – Milan. This is a light design practice which requires fully assembling of the installation and making a short story for the dance performance.

Major Light Design STATUS:

PR OJ EC T D E S C RIPTION:

Our response to the theme of ‘empathy’ was through a creation of an installation where the audience would not have a usual standpoint, but the front of the stage would be semi-blocked with black ribbons, making the performance harder to watch. We wanted to put emphasis on the strong bonds between the twins in relation to the outside world. In the beginning of the performance the dancers are communicating in an abstract way, illuminated by white blinking light, symbolizing the phase where they do not really know each other. Whereas at the end of the performance, the dancers communicate in mirrored ways, illuminated by spotlights in color. This represents the phase of love and empathy.

‘Twins’ as a concept is our response to the topic of empathy. We tried to express the importance of empathy trough human bonds which are proven to be very strong and powerful, such as bonds between a mother and her child, two people in love or between twins. This dance performance captures the phases of empathic growth between two individuals getting to know each other through light and installation.

‘Winezia’ is a portmanteau word which is derived from the words ‘wine’ and “Venezia’. These two words have always made a perfect twist, so making a wine decanter for wine connoisseurs came as a natural result of this project. By posing a question ‘where can we find memories’ we came to a conclusion that they are hidden round the corners, secluded in the letters never sent, or in the most divine reservoir - the wine. We wanted to create a unique piece of art where wine’s molecules will keep the secret and memories for time to come.

The concept for ‘Winezia’ came from the wine being a drink provoking many memories and stories. The shape of this wine decanter pays homage to one of the most glorious cities in the history –Venezia.
