Latest Activities Child Poverty and Vulnerability Training Course Vijavawada, India, 20-28 March 2017
The Indian organization "New Beginnings Charitable Trust NCT” in cooperation with "Prism Promozione Internazionale Siclia Mondo" held the Training Course, focusing on issues of child poverty. Participants were equipped with key competences and tools on "child protection and development" by sharing grassroots level knowledge and interventions on the field by the "New Beginnings Charitable - NCT". The training course was structured as follows including leaning activities as: - The UN Sustainable Developmental Goals & the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child. - A child rights situation analysis: Andhra Pradesh. - Best practices and strategies against child trafficking end extreme poverty. - NCT’s approach to child poverty, with a focus on disabled and street children. - Programmes for International cooperation and partnership. - Visits to local community projects. - Follow up, YouthPass and final evaluation on regular basis.

“In India we have so many cases of disability among children, I decided to open this facility to cater for these children because I witnessed their plight back home. Most of these children are hidden, some are even tied on ropes and not given any chance to interact and access education like other children. Attitudes towards children with disability here are different.” says Andhra Pradesh.
WOMEN LABOURERS IN INDIA PROMOTE CHILD RIGHTS THROUGH MICROFINANCE PROJECTS Kasa Pushpavalli reveals: “I left home because my step-mother was very hostile to me. If my real mother was alive, l would not have dared to move to the streets because life here is tough especially for young girls.” Ravi Sebastian (NCT) confirms that child trafficking and sexual violence among women and girls has been one of the biggest challenges his organization encounters regularly.

Latest Activities The Role of Education in Child Protection and Development Training Course Kisumu, Kenya, 20-28 June 2017
The event was organized by the Resource Hub For Development organization in Kenya in cooperation with : - Prism Promozione Internazionale Siclia Mondo, Italy (Caltanissetta) - Resource Hub for Development (RHD), Kenya (Nairobi) - NewBeginnings Charitable Trust, India (Vijayawada) - Inter Alia, Greece (Athens) - Federation Dimbaya Kagnalen, Senegal (Ziguinchor) - Consulta Europa Projects and Innovation sl, Spain (Las Palmas) - Asociación de Comunicadores y Educadores Viator, Peru (Lima) The training course introduced participants to community projects targeting children and young people both in rural and slum areas of Kisumu, exploring how education and community engagement can foster protection and development of vulnerable children. Main contents and activities: - Child Protection definition and core points within the term - A child rights situation analysis: Kisumu region - Understanding the right to education for children: identifying violations - Elements towards a protective environment - The rings of responsibility - Children’s resilience, life skills and participation - Strengthening education: local practices and case studies - Visits to local community projects - Kenya: funding and opportunities for international cooperation and development - Follow up, Youthpass and final evaluation
