Flint Visits Grandma’s House By Jo Lewington

Every Summer Flint went with his mummy, Jimi, to visit Grandma in Bampton.

Grandma Jo lives in the best little house in the world.

It has a hammock for swinging in...

There was a paddling pool and a hose pipe.

And best of all, there was Pansy who was the best dog in the world.

Flint slept in a big bed upstairs.

His mummy slept in a little bed with a lot of books.

Pansy slept in her basket, downstairs.

Every morning Flint helped Jo to wake up. He chose which earrings she should wear. 10

They cleaned their teeth and brushed their hair.

They said “good morning to Pansy and then Grandma Jo helped Flint get dressed.

Then Flint helped lay the table for breakfast. The table was under the apple tree.

Sometimes his favourite Uncle Danny was there!

After breakfast they went for a walk. If it was raining they had to take umbrellas.

Sometimes Flint rode in the pushchair sometimes he ran on his own two feet...

...but he always stopped and held Grandma’s hand to cross the road and Pansy waited until Grandma said “over” so they all crossed together.

The first thing they saw was sheep - three white sheep and one black sheep - so they sang to them “baa baa black sheep”.

Sometimes Flint walked along the top of the wall of the field where the sheep lived.

When they came to the horses, Flint could feed them with an apple. He had to keep his hand very flat.

The chickens enjoyed the bread, but...

...Pansy had to wait on the other side of the gate.

The last thing to do on the walk was to play ‘Pooh sticks’.

After the walk - Pansy had her breakfast.

Then Flint helped his mummy with the washing up.

And then a strange thing... Grandma just turned around a few times... and suddenly...

...it seemed to Grandma in no time at all...

...Flint had grown into a fine young man!

...and what happened then - must wait for another book.
