located in pittsburgh, pa along the allegheny river, the water taxi terminal has a strong emphasis on the concept of “threshold.” the project looks to define the terminal as a threshold of conectivity within its context, as the terminal would act as a destination, for users, linking the waterways, and pedestrian pathes above and on-level with the terminal.

the design incorporates the concept of the river that is on the site. the design of visitor center continues the narrative of the relationship between the built environment and the natural environment and how nature superimposes itself. the concept plays on the idea of a river-like motion that dictates the movement of the people within the structure and throughout the site as they experience the journey to the Farnsworth house.

the design concept is a representation of the nature’s defiance as the river re-asserts its dominance over the land, as it continuously floods the structure creating a narrative of battle.

Redirects residents from driving through the alley street creates parking and direct access onto pratt street allowing the alley street to be more pedstrian friendly
Breaks the solidity of the street pushes off the edge of the sidewalk softens the solidity caused by the brick facades of the rowhomes on pratt street order of operations
micro apartment every apartment unit uses a system of two (modular) micro apartments that have a shared space that is flexible in its shape based on the type of apartment and the location within the building.

by allowing a resident of a micro apartment the financial freedom to only have to be responsible for the single micro apartment they would live in and half the common space

while still allowing the flexibility for the residents to the traditional ‘splitting the rent’ on the entire unit.
The design uses the concept of modular living in shared interchangeable common spaces utilizing micro-live-work spaces to create affordable and flexible housing typologies for a targeted demographic of young professionals. Within this design solution users are facilitated with multiple public and semi-private common spaces to allow for multiple levels of interaction between residents and community engagement. game room

Culinary Infusion A contemporary building addition to the Mount Vernon area, the building is an incubator that houses a culinary institution alongside a modern culinary cafeteria and student housing. The space allows for a combination of more experimental and traditional cooking techniques to be taught and exhibited to both students and the general public. The incorporation of student housing allows for students and faculty to interact and influence each other through culture to create new products and techniques that can be explored not only in classroom but in everyday and leisure settings.
