Invisible City // Santa Monica Airport
Commercial
The Invisible City at the former Santa Monica Airport site is an ecological and urban transformation that would provide high-performance landscaping and increased residential density. The scheme provides for housing while preserving most of the land surface and enhancing the quality of life in Santa Monica with parks and recreational areas. The housing will be established underground - maximizing space and providing a safe environment from natural hazards.

Pier 70 // Residentials
In designing a residential project for a neglected community on an old pier, we explored the relationship between building and landscape. The master plan emphasizes an independent yet interactive living experience. The self-contained nature of the project includes retail, community services, and recreational facilities. Many of the units have a view of the bay, and the pedestrian ramps allow the community to circulate in and out of the buildings with ease.

Distribution problems regarding spoilage and costs continue to increase when farms are further away from the metropolis. Folding the farm back into the city to alleviate the issue of distribution is proposed through the following four strategies: analyze found conditions, occupy found conditions, reactivate environment & land value, transform economy.

What if transforming ideas from fashion into architecture could cause structure and skin to merge to create possibilities? Fashion and architecture both share the same design approach which starts with a human body and expands on ideas of space and movement. The three main pillars of fashion design are personal, political, and cultural identities. This process will eventually define the circulation and relationship of programs.

Archipelago // Hainan
The proposal is a natural floating island chain that challenges the ecology of the ocean is explored through the lens of programming and differentiating between passive and active water ponds. The big organizational strategy is the main island clusters and the pedestrian and bike bridges that work as a secondary connection in our island. The Archipelago is a tourist destination that embraces ambiguity and excitement though natural and augmented landscape.

Runway // Thesis
The runway on Alameda Point works as a filtration machine using bioremediation and rearranging land to create a levee to protect the site from sea level rise. The Environmental Interpretive Center and Research Facility will illustrate the process of cleaning and restoring soil, water, and habitat over the next fifty years. Sectional experiences of the site consist of a series of moments that reveal the building’s over, under, and adjacent conditions amongst the changing landscape.

Rhythm // Vector Field Interaction
What if there are multiple nodes in a project site that can activate and encourage more intensified interactions? What if the nodes make it easy for bicyclists to dismount their bikes and engage in an event? This investigation, expands and explores the existing conditions of how people change status from being a pedestrian to being a bicyclist. The conceptual proposal addresses the green areas around the site, and the bicycle, and jogging routes in Embarcadero.
