I also worked as Civil Site & Design Engineer for a privately owned Design & Build company in, Kerala. My duties are to send company profiles to clients in the same field involved in projects in U.A.E. and Gulf Region by email or fax, and start prequalification registrations. I am also required to meet prospective clients and discuss mutual business opportunities for their bidding and ongoing projects by giving company presentations, brochures and other relevant details of company activities. Balan Construction Company, Gujarat, INDIA. CIVIL ENGINEER- Structural Design (Feb 1991- June 1993) I worked as a Civil Engineer with this construction company’s consultancies in Baroda. My main duties were: 1. Checking draughtsman’s structural drawings and instructing them of any discrepancies. 2. Designing various structural components of a construction project like Steel and R.C.C Beams, slabs, composites, cantilevers, trusses etc. 3. Designing canal structures like weirs, aqua ducts on the reservoir basin of Narmada Sardar Sarovar project. 4. Inspecting survey and contour drawings and calculating gradients and dips for landscapes. 5. Design and analysis of multi-storeyed framed structures both residential and commercial. 6. The post was very demanding, challenging and rewarding. My duties were: • To be trained to process claims for state benefits i.e. jobseekers allowance and was reporting to line manager during my tenure. • I multitasked as Office Receptionist being very customer focused, was able to meet the customer demands very efficiently. • I processed claims for benefits by collecting relevant documents from clients and seeking more information from their ex employers and also assessed their needs and requirements for benefits as per their circumstances. The work was mainly administrative which involved opening the daily departmental post, circulation to appropriate staff, registering and updating records on the government database. The work also consisted of general office duties like filing, photocopying, faxing and maintaining the incoming and outgoing posts. • High Commission of India , Aldwych , London Visa Counter Clerk (April 1997-September1998) Worked as visa processing officer and counter clerk with the Indian Embassy in London.
