Establishment of a mentoring program for station personnel:

Employee Resource Groups (LGBTQIA+); (BIPOC); (Young Professionals/Early Career); (Working Parents/Caregivers)

Offered employee resource groups (ERGs) to all staff, including staff new to the organization to increase retention and connection. We have found that when tell potential candidates that we offer these types of activities, their level of interest in working for Nine PBS increases.

Established a paired learning mentoring group

The Weston Network facilitated sessions for executive team targeted toward building strong, inclusive teams and staff retention. We have found that when tell potential candidates that we offer these types of activities, their level of interest in working for Nine PBS increases significantly.

The Coleman Group facilitated sessions for staff We have found that when tell potential candidates that we offer these types of activities, their level of interest in working for Nine PBS increases significantly.

All employees were encouraged to attend these sessions to better understand the importance of DEIB topics and how to integrate them into their interactions with other staff, including managing teams and hiring.

UMSL Spring 2022 Career Fair (Virtual)

Career Fair to identify and recruit current students and recent graduates for open internship and career positions.

Nine PBS was one of several local employers who participated in the UMSL Spring 2022 Career Fair. This was a "virtual" event, held using the online platform, Career Fair Plus. Interviews were scheduled every 15 minutes over the course of six hours with the intent of identifying potential students for internships, and students preparing to graduate who could be recruited by Nine PBS for employment.

Webster University Arts, Science & Humanities Career & Intern Expo (Virtual)

Career Fair to identify and recruit current students and recent graduates for open internship and career positions.

Nine PBS was one of several local employers who participated in the Webster University Arts, Science & Humanities Career & Intern EXPO. This was a "virtual" event due held using the online platform Handshake. Interviews were scheduled every 10 minutes over the course of two hours with the intent of identifying potential students for internships, and students preparing to graduate who could be recruited by Nine PBS for employment.

Nine PBS was one of several local employers who participated in the Webster University's Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion All-Majors Career & Internship Fair. This was an in person fair held on Webster University's campus Nine PBS staff met with students over the course of three hours with the intent of identifying potential students for internships, and students preparing to graduate who could be recruited by Nine PBS for employment.
