Servellon1 Nirma Servellon Mrs. Cox English 111 25 November 2013 What are the Motives of People Committing Violent Acts? In November 19 a woman was found guilty of stabbing her boyfriend to death. The motives are said to be an act of rage and jealousy. In Sanford a man was killed during a home invasion. Motives are said to be that the killer was desperate for money. A 14 year-old boy was accused of the raping and death of his Algebra school teacher. It could have happen just because the teacher was talking bad about the boy’s home state. Violence is all around from the corner of the streets to the other side of the country. It’s on when we turn our televisions on, how people are killing each other. But many never pondered around to contemplate about what is driving these people to commit such heinous crimes. What could possibly be going on in their heads or personal life that pushes people to the edge to want to hurt other people? Here are some of the causes as to why people are committing crimes every day. The early years of someone’s life can determine greatly what their future is going to be like. Many of the people who are executing acts of violence could be under a great deal of stress. Possible hatred can be a cause for someone to act in such a violent

Servellon2 manner; many hate crimes are reported each day. Everyone who carries out an act of violence has to have a motive as to why they did what they did. There is a rise in kids committing horrific crimes these days, and it has to do greatly with the environment in which they were being raised. Many of the people who commit an act of violence are people who have seen violence at first hand. Even more kids grow up with the mentality that if their own parents regard them with violence, why can’t they regard other people with the same violence? Violence can only conduct violence; that’s the reason why so many people execute a crime. They are surrounded by violence at an early age. In addition, people who are under stress can be pushed to cause pain to other people. A person can be stressed about work, not having money to pay the bills and many other stressful things that life can throw at people. Like the men who invaded the house, he was probably under stress because he did not have any money, and the easiest thing that people find is to go and rob. Maybe the guy who shot just wanted the money, but other circumstances brought him to shoot and kill the other man. There are many cases like this one where people are just stressed about things and do not know how to deal with life. Finally, hatred is the cause of many crimes that happen in the United States, and it happens every day. Hate crimes are still happening for the simple reason that people who are committing this crime feel real emotional loathing toward others. Race, color, immigrant, are some of the reasons why people have hatred towards others. And all these, goes back to the early years of the person’s life, on how he or she was raised. Race, color, immigrant or not

Servellon3 immigrant should not matter nowadays in the country, but it does and it feels like a long fought battle with no winners yet. Ultimately violence will continue to be part of our life. Violence is all around from the corner of the streets to the other side of the country. Violence happens when there’s a child raised in a violent environment, when there people under stress, and when people are raised to hate other people for no good reason.
