Glory to Golden Nation! “Welcome to Golden Myanmar” proclaimed the bill-board as Swami Vimokshananda and Prof Dr K Bose noticed it while they were driven from the Yangon airport on 16 November 2016. Myanmar is getting a big facelift. The commoners on the roads or anywhere are quite humble and hospitable. During the 4-day visit to Myanmar, Swami Vimokshananda met many distinguished people. He had discussions with Venerable S i t a g u S a y a d a w o f t h e International Buddhist Academy too. On his request, the Swami visited Mandalay where he addressed the Buddhist monks and nuns at the Sitagu International Buddhist Academy. At Yangon, he conducted a Satsang at the RKM Centre to the members of the Sarada Sangha, addressed devotees of Sri Durgabari and delivered a lecture at a Reception hosted by the

Ramakrishna Mission in Yangon

The members of the Sarada Sangha of the Ramakrishna Mission Society at Yangon organised a Cultural function in honour of Swami Vimokshananda. This was his second visit. He explored the prospects of reaffiliation of this quiet centre to Belur Math. In 1962 our Monks were asked to leave the then Burma and thereafter due to the tireless efforts of a few sincere and devoted volunteers the Light of the Centre has been kept alive. The devotees now want one or two monks to be stationed at Yangon as done in any RKM official centre.
