The Memorable Maha Shivatratri
The Maha Shivaratri was celebrated at our Temple on Friday, 24 February 2017 in all solemnity. Shiva Puja was performed by Swami Pavitratmananda. Shiva Mahimna Stotram and Shiva-namasankirtanam were recited. Earlier Rudram and chamakam from the Vedas were also chanted. Bhajans were sung led by Swami Satyalokananda. Swami Vimokshananda, the President gave a short Talk on “The Meaning of Mrityunjaya Mantra”. This famous mantra beginning with “Trayambakam…” was discussed with word by word meaning and its spiritual import. He also narrated some incidents from the Life of Sri Ramakrishna and how they were intimately related to Lord Mahadeva. After the prayers, as the assembled devotees chanted the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, one by one the devotees did the abhisekam for the Shiva Lingam by pouring sacred water and milk and offered flowers and Vilva leaves. Prasad was duly distributed. Later after 10 pm, the monks visited Sri Sivan Temple where RKM had put up a Book stall. 179 BARTLEY ROAD | SINGAPORE 539784
