Guest Monks Recently two guest monks visited Singapore. One was Swami Sarvarupananda, the Head of our Colombo, Sri Lanka centre and the other was Swami Supriyananda, the Head of our Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia centre. The presence of both the Swamis brought lots of joy to the monks and devotees of the Singapore centre. Indian Traditional Games Festival

The Vivekanand Seva Sangh (VSS) of Singapore was a proud host of the Indian Traditional Games Festival (ITGF) for the 8th consecutive year in Singapore. VSS usually celebrates ITGF event on the occasion of Indian New Year. This year, ITGF was held on Sunday, 30 April 2017 at the Global Indian I n t e r n a t i o n a l S ch o o l (GIIS) playgrounds. About 1,600 people attended and enjoyed the ITGF event. A huge and charming Rangoli depicting the VSS with its shakhas (wings) was displayed in the middle of the ground attracting the attention of the visitors and participants. Silambam (an ancient martial art from Tamil Nadu) was the star attraction for this event.

His Excellency Sri Javed Ashraf, High Commissioner of India to Singapore was the Chief Guest. Swami Vimokshananda was invited as a Special Guest. On arrival at the grounds, he was warmly received by the officials of the VSS. The VSS Volunteers took him around the entire p l ay g r o u n d s h ow i n g different games that were being played at the different spots. A team of Volunteers from the Ramakrishna Mission held a Book Stall at the allotted site. It saw a brisk sale of books and other materials. The ITG Festival is undoubtedly a memorable and remarkable event much cherished by the sports loving Indian enthusiasts of Singapore.
